Never played UC4 on an OG PS4 but you're literally the first person whose said that. The analysis videos and all the raving comments from people on GAF and here seem to imply the game runs just as well on an OG as it does on a Pro, bar the lower resolution.

@Shyber care to comment ?
Didn't notice any. Probably something my TV took care of.
Heavy user of smooth/clear motion tech. I play at a pseudo 60FPS feel.

The performance is not bad overall but come on DF doesn't run through the entire game. Id still say it performs really well considering the visuals its pushing but I did notice slowdowns. Or maybe I shouldnt have played it right after playing a 60fps game :p

BB had frame rate issues, that's true but not every game on a PC runs 100% without needing any setting tweaks, no ?
I dont expect to put up with that on a closed platform, on an exclusive on top of that. And heres the thing, on PC I can atleast tweak something here or there to make things better, if not fix them in most cases.

Not Auto, but yes, Clear Motion enhancements. Sony W800C, it has a physical rate of 200Hz and a decent processor.

Man, if you can live with the lag created by it power to you :p

Samsung UHD J series here, even the slightest amount of lag produced by clear motion is an immediate buzz kill for me, it's really noticeable in shooters. I always have it on Game Mode for the HDMI the Pro is connected to.

There's a sweet spot on my Sony, balances the lag and smoothness well. Heck I even play MP with it lol.

because at first the meager upgrade from slim to pro wasn't enough but this CHANGES things... its quite significantly boosting old titles much better now
thus making the original PS4 kinda obsolete and not worth the 40k spent on it  at the time
But like I said, this was the Pro's purpose to begin with. I mean, better hardware was bound to result in better performance compared to the OG PS4. Also, 40K isn't really wasted. The only way I would say it would be wasted is if Sony starts creating Pro only games.

OG PS4 owners are getting upset, which they should have realized the PRO Version of the console will inevitably outperform the base model :p

PC people are just in here for the lulz.

If I was to guess, this boost mode was in the cards from the start, Sony had it disabled so they could sell shit loads of Slim bundles for Q4 2016 :p they did end up selling more playstations than any other PS console in the last quarter compared to any other quarter, so you can say it worked.

Now that it's over and with the Scorpio threat looming, Sony are naturally going to ramp up the marketing and feature set for their premium console too.
Lol, true. OG owners shouldn't be surprised by this. This is why I didn't originally like the idea of better console versions in the same cycle when Pro was first announced as it would create exactly this sort of issues with their fanbase.

And your guess feels pretty spot on. (y)

I don't see much wrong with Sony's approach/strategy. Two categories of SKUs, one for top end with 4K etc and other for the mainstream, Christmas gifts etc.

The only thing that could've been better was Pro's hardware capability. It should've been a bit more future proof. It's barely managing 4K right now.

I think it's a good trade off for performance and especially price. No way in hell Scorpio is $399, you can mark my words on that.

Checker Boarding is a good faux way to provide similar IQ without sacrificing performance.

Now .. IF they go ahead and announce backwards compat. this E3 for Pro for the entire (or some) PS3 library. *THAT* will be a game changer.

Sony is far from desperate. Their sales are all time high. They'll capitalize on older games using PS Now and HD re-releases. Don't even expect BW compat.
