I went to the basti exchange on saturday to inquire about the tax information and fibre. and after looking at all the people that were having issues with fibre, i am now having doubts.

According to the fibre guy, basti will take atleast another month probably more, and on top of that conversion changes which were 1000 before are now 1500 and might increase when the time comes for basti.

Funny enough, a person came talked to me who was their for fibre complain and said to NOT get fibre at all, they are bunch of idiots, he said that his internet is off from Eid after conversion to fibre and they are so incompetent that no one is properly able to do anything about it.

Also got 1 more information which is if a user opt for new number then PTCL will provide fibre and wont diactivate the copper, when fibre is up ad running then they will do it as to minimize for down time but this is not available if user chooses to opt for old number
Its not that bad, and their staff is nice if you treat them well (mashroobaat, and khana to a couple of them when they came during lunch hour :tv:).

My issue was resolved today and the guy explained to me the issue. They're installing some new equipment (I think he said splitters or something) and that is causing these issues. He said once this is finished, ye issues nai aaengay itnay.

Oh and my package was downgraded to 8mb after I give the exchange walas ultimatum. I called 1236 and went back to 50 :tv
murtaza12 If I activate SmartTV, will my download rate increase a few MBs?

No that only applies to DSL where you can see the line rate that it's synced at.

On GPON extra bandwidth is allocated, but since IPTV is distributed through VLANs now, the extra bandwidth is of no use to you otherwise.

You'll still only get 50 Mbps.

How is their IPTV? Is it any good?
Only get it if there are no other TV options available in your area.

It sucks. Channels aren't even in HD, the UI on the ZTE box that they offer is garbage and based on Android 4.0, and in my case it always stuttered and the audio would cut out for a few seconds.

There is something going at PTCL Karachi data center.

The status of CloudFlare servers is showing re-routed for Karachi for the past two days. This is also a good URL to check if something is wrong at the back end, since CloudFlare uses them as their base in the country.

https://www.cloudflarestatus.com/ --- check under Asia.

So, a whole week with GPoN and this is my experience.

As of right now everything is running on WiFi as I haven't had time to route 2-3 ethernet cables through my house.
On that note, the WiFi on the ONT sucks. Like, it SUCKS. If I'm directly below the ONT on the first floor (ONT is on the second floor) I get only 50-60% signals with terrible speeds.
Put another wall between us and I practically have no internet access on my phone, even android pops up a message saying "No internet access".
Man the ADSL modems had better WiFi in comparison. IDK if it's just the ONT itself or the fact that one of the antennas broke right out of the box on mine.
Regardless, it sucks and I quickly need to hook up my PC's with Ethernet so I can use my TP-Link as my main Router. (If anyone is selling an AC Router for cheap do PM me)

My internet only disconnected once for about 3-4 hours the past week, it came back on it's own, perhaps some work is still being done. For the most part, the connection is stable and doesn't time out.
Except it sometimes becomes wonky and my game disconnects while the internet is still up and running. Perhaps a bug or something IDK.

A thing to note is that If I reboot the router and go check on the RG Troubleshooting tab it shows the same 0ds/30us Packet loss.
Leave it for a day or so and it goes up sometimes, not always, to 250-1000 on the upstream side while the downstream remains 0, and rebooting brings the us packet loss back down to ~30. murtaza12 Normal behaviour?

Everything else seems to be running fine and pings are the same as what I got on ADSL with Fastpath Enabled.
The download speed still goes up to only 24 max and varies between 19-24, but I can't really verify that claim via WiFi and they still haven't redone the drop wire housing.
I'm gonna get Smarttv installed as well, should I just call 1218 for the order or should I visit the exchange in person?

Stupid decisions by an ISP run by stupid people. ONTs aren't meant to distribute WiFi and LAN tbh. And PTCL doesn't offer bridge mode so the Alcatel ONTs don't allow external PPPoE dialing because of their weird authentication method.
This is why I never ever used the WiFi on my ONT since it sucked.

29-30 US packet loss is perfectly normal. It always showed that for me. Never had an issue with it though.

DS Packet loss is what's concerning. Anything below 50 is fine, higher than that and something is wrong.

Both. Call 1218 so the order goes through. Then the exchange guys will see it in the system when you visit them.

The box can either be taken on 300 rs/month installments or one time cost.

If you want them to configure it, well and good. If not, write down the AAA and Middleware username and password required for it to actually connect.

Also, under LAN on the ONT, one of the ports will be set to Bridge Mode by default, whereas the other 3 will be on route mode.

Connect the Smart TV to whichever port has bridge mode enabled. It's either LAN1 or LAN4, can't remember.

Never had double NAT because my PS4 was connected directly to the ONT.

I had Open NAT type on all games.

I suppose the next closest thing would be to put the Router's IP in DMZ on the ONT's interface.

29-30 US packet loss is indeed fine, but my issue is when the ONT/Connection has been up and running for about a day or two.
After 24-48hours of runtime when I go to check on the RG tab again the US packet loss raises to 250-1000.
Rebooting the ONT fixes this and brings US Packet Loss back down to 29-30.
Currently my ONT/Connection has been up for over a day and the US Packet Loss hasn't raised from ~30, fingers crossed it stays that way.

I wouldn't recommend that. No reason to do so.

Connect router as an AP to the ONT. DHCP will be handled by the ONT and the TPLink router will handle WiFi only.
I suppose that is one way of handling it. But I'll be using the DMZ method as I like to put Gargoyle on my Router and have it manage everything.
This automatically turns off the possibility of connecting anything directly to the ONT. Unless I can use the TP-Link Router as just a AP+Switch without it's Router part, then I can see this being the case.

Even though the website claims that they are re-routing the Karachi data center. I am still getting this response and hence experiencing lightning fast browsing as usual.

Umm... You're using Mobilink. And interestingly, Cloudflare has a mirror with TW (and didn't peer with PTCL).

StormFiber. You can never get response tine as low as 3 ms on mobile carriers. And yes, TW has recently peered with cloudfare data centers but during their schedule maintenance or some other shit, pings tend to get higher so I switch back to google DNS which gives me around 20 ms or so. Still there is a huge difference surfing the internet when you are on CF, while on google DNS some apps or websites become slower.

Did anyone recieve an SMS about the smart TV set top box? It says I'm eligible for a completely free device. Is there a catch or is it completely free?

And does it work using wifi?
