I don't think so apart from changing the IP [emoji14]

Not modem fault, its a PTCL issue, complain about it.

Think of it like this, you're knocking on someone's door and they aren't replying/opening the door :p
On my way to the exchange as we speak.
Let's hope they have a logical explanation.

Well, that was an absolute waste of time. I went there, at an odd timing, but the exchange closes at 9 so there should've been people there.
One guy was wrapping up, about to leave and I asked if it was a major problem and he says 'Back-end' se masla hai.
No more info, he looked like a moron anyway, so I wasn't expecting much, though he did say to come back tomorrow morning.

I went to the exchange today, it was a mess. I'm assuming something has gone wrong because there's half of Bahria complaining over there.
Secondly, I told the guy everything, he had no idea what I was talking about. Eventually, he just wrote my number and address down and said he'd come and check it out himself.
Funny thing is, he'll be in for quite a shock when he sees the DLink PTCL modem has factory firmware installed, instead of the PTCL shit.

Well, my internet has been down since 10 AM today. Is this PTCLs way of preparing me for what they have in store on Monday?

I've complained on 1218 and Twitter. The Modem just doesn't connect.

The system log on the TPLink router says 'Timeout waiting for PADO packets' and the DLink PTCL modem just says 'Starting to connect' and then never connects.
I looked up the issue and most said it was a faulty modem, I tried 3 different ones. Still nothing. The other possibility was a fault at the DSLAM. So, I'm hoping that PTCL is working on it.

This problem is caused by using the ptcl router as a modem and bridging the modem connection to the wan port of another router, therby using the second router to do the PPPoE login, as you've done. I face the same issue. Basically, sometimes the PTCL authentication server rejects your authentication attempts if there's frequent disconnection and connection.

Solution:

1. Turn off your modem and router for 5-10 mins and turn it back on (the authentication rejection lasts for 5 mins or so).
2. Or, use your ptcl router as a router and let it do the PPPoE login.

I read up about this and its a PPPoE lockout thingy, it happens abroad too.
You're right, my TPLink modem was in Bridge mode, I had it hooked up to a WDR3500 router to combat the double NAT issues.
It had an uptime of about 5 days, one morning it disconnected.

What I tried:

1) Stop bridge mode. Tried PPPoE authentication through modem only. Using the TP-Link TD-8840T. Didn't work. Same PADO error.

2) Using the DLink 2750U provided by PTCL. Made sure configuration was correct. Tried dialing through PPPoE, still didn't work. System log says 'Starting to connect' which will keep going forever. Never connects though.

3) Kept everything unplugged and powered off for 4 hours. Tried dialing again through the PTCL modem, still won't work.

So, the PTCL guy came over. No idea what I was talking about. Quite shocked that the PTCL firmware had been replaced by the stock one.

He said he'd call me back after contacting his people at the 'back-end'. If it doesn't happen, I'm disconnecting my internet from PTCL. I've had enough. I'll be using Mobilink 3G as an alternative.

Once they've confirmed that either VDSL or GPON is available. I'll come back to PTCL then.

So, I guess these are the only way to get things done in PTCL:

1) Insult them
2) Threaten to disconnect their shit

I went with the 2nd option this time since insulting wasn't working, and tada! Within 10 minutes, the guy called me back saying does it work now? I was watching the system log as he said that, and, the ADSL Link dropped, it had to re-train the line, then it connected on the first PPPoE dial attempt and boom. It works now. I hung up on him, put my TP-Link modem on instead and everything works great.

Now, the awesome thing is, when the technician guy had come earlier, he asked if I had requested for higher speeds, and he said the VDSL thing is almost done, and they are working on Fiber too.
I think GPON is still a long shot, but if VDSL comes here, I'm probably going to upgrade to 16 Mbps. I'll find out on Monday!

Got VDSL installed. Got the crappy DSL-225 router though, just hangs and does nothing.
Line stats:

For some weird reason getting 45 Mbps upstream, real rate is still 1-2 MB, but this POS DSL-225 router sucks.

They really f*cked up the line profile. Lol.

Did you do a factory reset after upgrading the modem firmware?

Trust me, it's better than the alternative cellpipe modem :p :p

Also, your line profile is effed up, get your upstream profile reduced to 2mbps. My download was initially set to 35mbps (12mbps package) but knowing my line and distance from MSAG, I got them to lower it.

I currently have 9215 Kbps line profile, What should I ask ptclcares guy to upgrade my line rate to with Smart TV (IPTV) installed?
Should I ask for 12288 Kbps or greater?

Also which set-top box provided by PTCL (EC1309, EC2108, EC6108 or any latest model) is preferrable for Smart TV, and is it possible to ask the exchange to arrange for a particular stb model?

I have been so annoyed by this crap ptcl service. I had this issue previously that my line profiling was done wrong and I was getting below 200kbps upstream on a 4mb connection which messed up everything from browsing to downloading.

After 2 weeks I got it fixed and now just about a week had passed a new issue has popped up! The link goes down every now and then, after a few hiccups it connects but the profile its shows has pathetic stats 400/200 up/downstream and then it stabilizes (sometimes) to its original stats of a 4mb line.

Anyone else facing such issues? Man this is so pathetic they are probably the worst isp ever!

Well, this is convenient.
PTCL called me today and said that they received my request for VDSL and they said that Bahria Town Management is being a bit bi*tchy, and the work should be completed AFTER Eid.

I remember getting the router than paying the bill, there was no charge at the exchange only papers/receipt was signed. IMO there routers are shit. Better get something for a little extra from the market
