I just placed an order for my connection up gradation from 8Mbps to 12Mbps along with that I've told them to convert my ADSL to VDSL, now the thing which is worrying me is that will there be any sort of charges for switching to VDSL by charges I mean conversion charges or modem or wire charges ?

Your info on this matter will be appreciated.
@murtaza12 bro you can also shed some light on this. And by the way are you on 8Mbps or 12Mbps ?

they didnt charge me any extra. although there are charges for the new vDSL modem. i guess it was Rs 500.

the installation charges that you see on their "HIGH SPEED BROADBAND" page (lol) of Rs 2500 are actually Rs 2100 now and they have not updated their website! can you believe that?!!

and these charges are for the new connections. not for current customers upgrading.

also one thing to note, there is this vDSL modem card or some magical shit they have. if its not installed in your area, they would have to get it from their procurement dept. that can take few days to few weeks to never, why you ask, cause PEETCL

if your area is good, and there are real fairies in your exchange, then you might get ur connection upgraded to vDSL soon.

The wire from DP to the splitter inside is really old and has one join in it.
I bought a new wire, haven't gotten around to installing it yet.

Wire from Pole to DP has been recently replaced and has no cuts/joints.

thats good. and btw, why did YOU buy the wire? its their job to give u wires and shit.

but still if you have it its ok. just ask ur line man to get it installed. try not to have a single cut.

i had these same issues. way back i had 16Mbps and i never got full speeds. i talked to many many PEETCL people. wrote applications, talked to them, met them, went to their offices but no one helped me. it was our exchange manager who was piece of Ostrich shit. he got changed and so did everything.
got a new wire, got new modem, got this vDSL card and ALHAMDULILLAH things gone right.

now in my area only 1 other person has vDSL service, there are people who have even 20Mbps but almost no one knows about vDSL so all in all good for me

Well I hope so that I may get converted to VDSL soon. Although the CRS on phone yesterday told me there will be two wires coming to your new modem I mean what's up with that ?

For now my package hasn't been upgraded to 12Mbps either I hope it gets upgraded soon.

The CSRs on the phone don't know anything. Makes no sense whatever he said.

VDSL still uses RJ11 telephone line and you'll just be given a new modem (D-Link DSL225).

guys.. currently im using 4mb net but from last 15 days im getting very slow speed like 1mb or less than 1mb .. the ptcl guy visited my home and after checking all the stuff etc etc he told me:"sir, apk router kharab go gya.. apk router k parameters dead ho gye tou naya router le.." I was damn shocked that What The HELL he is telling me ??? really guys..do u think that router parameters are gone dead ?? plus, i really dont trust this ptcl banda not any more now !!!

First of all, they won't. I got 8Mbps too, and they're keep nagging me to drop it to 4Mbps whenever there's an issue since they don't have vDSL in my area. I doubt that they'll allow you to upgrade.

Your snr is above 20 and downstream plus up stream for 4mb connection is OK as well. Just get single ptcl black wire it's called drop wire and get it installed. But it should be connected via the msag network (fibre optic) if it's available in your area of ptcl. I am using 12 Mb package my connection is via drop wire it works perfect.

Everything seems fine.

Your SNR is good, attenuation is decent too. However, your attainable rate is concerning.
Your line was syncing at ADSL_G.dmt instead of ADSL2+.

The guy might just be right about your modem.

Unless you've changed to G.dmt yourself. In which case, enable ADSL2+ and reboot.

If you haven't, get a replacement modem and see if it syncs at ADSL2+. Your current line profile will remain at 4 Mbps, but your attainable rate will increase by a considerably large margin.

if your on a wired connection (copper) no fibre optic then only solution is drop wire one single wire no cuts. No fibre is a problem then drops will happen from time to time.

ADSL_G.dmt... what is that ?? i have no idea what ur talking about ??

and G.dmt.. how do i change it ??? and how should i enable the ADSL2 ?? its time to change the router .. ohhhh man.. honestly im not in the mood of to change the router and spend like 4k-5k !!!
