ok i will call them again to convert it are there any hidden charges to convert it
suppose if i convert it and my line cant support it and i want to revert back to 4mb are they simply just going to deny it what are the options

Are u on fiber connection or copper . Just ask them if ur line supports but I am sure it does I would suggest to go for 10mb

As per my knowledge at time of connection installation at your premises
PTCL BB Engineer upgrade or install any services they allow you some time to test your connection before signing any agreement or legal documents.
if line stats and internet speed is ok and you are satisfide at that time.
He through you one of their call center and over the phone you tells them yes i am happy with services .
If you have done so then you are bound to terms & conditions they have right to refuse your requests.

Confirmation over the phone (yes i am happy with installation )actually consider as a legal document to process by doing so you are accepting their terms and conditions.

So now they have right to deny your downgrade request if line etc is good.

They can try to reslove issues you are facing with services at first side,

but if they failed to resolve issue or error then they will revert your connection back to previous settings.

Please correct me if i am wrong.

Transformed packages support copper wire and u will not have any problem.

Yea , ur dp does look bad, they changed mine recently. What u can do is call ur exchange and ask them to give u the number of the exchange in-charge.

You can call him and ask him to get it changed because its in terrible condition.

My dp was really bad too before so wat the line man did was connect the copper wire coming to my house directly to the wire coming into the dp so the dp wasnt involved anymore

That only helped a little tho, my main issue was disconnections, changing DPs may have an effect on reducing disconnections if that was the reason y they were happening

And when u say did it improve my line, wat exactly do u mean? do u mean did it increase snr or reduce disconnections or something else?

If you are planning for 5 Mbps, convert your ADSL connection to VDSL as well. And if you can afford to pay 5000 once for set box get smart cable free from them as well. And If you have a land line phone use 100 free Ufone minutes as well.

PTCL got some serious routing issues, can't even understand what sort of IT professionals they have sitting in that department.

Huge Packet losses, huge pings to nearby locations, huge pings right in Pakistan as well, in this age and day they still can't do anything about it.

An outage occurred on SMW4 a little over a month ago. There are also ongoing issues on SMW3 right now. International bandwidth is pretty choked especially towards ME/Europe, hence the fucked up routing.

No, the outages haven't been fixed. They just changed the routing to fix the most high-demand bandwidth.

So, they reduced your download speed to compensate for the increase in upload speed? That's Annex M stuff right there. PTCL introduced this protocol a little while back for 8 Mbps+ ADSL users to experience 2 Mbps upload speeds instead of the conventional 1 Mbps. But the catch was that the download speed would be reduced for the same amount as the upload speed was increased for.

So, tell them you are on VDSL. You should get advertised download and upload speeds for the package you opted for.
