Ps3 region help!!!

Hey ppl,

I just Bought a region 3 ps3 which is NTSC/j...

Could you plz tell me what does the region code mean!!

After quite a search I found out that all region games cam be played on every ps3 but there is problem playing online..

All I want to know is that what region games can I play online with??? And if with all then, why are region code posted in the game if you can use it for all games... Another thing I've heard is that if I have region 2 (for e.g) than u can't play with my friend who has the same region or sumthing like that...

Plz help me...

Let me summarize this up for you:

1. PS3 games are all REGION free ! meaning you won't need to stick to just your own region waiting for a game to get released to be played...the only thing is that the DLC is region locked...meaning if you've got a REGION 2 game then you can only download the DLC content of that game from an European account or UK account...that goes for REGION 1 and 3

2. You can play any game online with any region with anyone out there, it isn't restricted...for example if you have a REGION 3 Killzone 2 and one of your friends has a REGION 1 game, you will still be able to play with him....

3. The only problem you'll face will be with DVD and Blu-ray movies and also with PSone games if you plan to play them....they will be region locked...if you buy a blu-ray movie from UK then obviously it will be REGION 2 movie and it won't play on your REGION 3 console

So this means in terms of games ONLY that my consoles region dosent matter..

I have made my PSN account with my location as uk. I can download all updates for it but this mean, but does this mean if I have a region 1 game I cant get it's update or other downloadable content???

Oh and can u tell what location is region 1,2,3 on the map.

if u have a game of region 1 then make a region1 psn account then downlaod the DLC. if u have region 2 game then downlaod its DLC from region 2 psn account. We can make multiple accounts on psn from one ps3.

Oh and can u tell what location is region 1,2,3 on the map.

1= US
2= UK
3= hong kong

I would like to clear one thing....the updates of games don't matter on the regional account...if you have a region 1 game and a region 2 account, you will get the update of the game, just the DLC won't work.....

yes DLC = downloadable content which is region locked to the game...

for cod:mw2...it's maps and all

and i dont think fifa 10 has any DLC

PSN Help please
I finally signed up to PSN made an ID and everything but I can't join any games. When I try COD MW2 it cant find any games for me and gives a ping error and on Fifa 10 everytime it finds me a player the game doesn't move forward from the select teams menu.
I have PTCL 1 MB connection. Will this problem be fixed if I find pakistani based players to play on Fifa? Sorry might be a noob question. Thanks for the help in advance.

It's a problem with PTCL, it's is very unstable these days. Constant disconnections, high pings etc.

i downloaded just cause 2 demo and wen i presed start butoon and wen i try to start da game by preessing 0 nathin hapens da game remains on the title screens any solution ?

okay guys i have a PS3 slim 120GB on FW 3.41, when i bought the ps3 the FW was 3.20 and the game ran PERFECTLY but ever since i upgraded from 3.20 to 3.21 and later on 3.41 the game DOESN'T RUN =( i can see the disk in the XMB like i always do but after i load it nothing happens, no konami logo, no menu no nothing =( i got to play this for a brief time and i loved it and i really wanna play it for the fan sake so can someone tell me a way to work around?

btw its a region 1 game and my console is a region 3 NTSC-J

Yeah the JC2 Demo has a bug in it that disables the use of the O button it happens because of the region difference of the demo and your ps3 judging by your problem your PS3 is Region 3 and the Demo Region 1 this Bug occurs because of the change of the X and O buttons region 1 uses X while region 3 uses O button as its "enter" button so the game gets confused when region 1 software is played on region 3 hardware and disables the O button for good usually devs fix this issue but JC2 still has it in its demo. unfortunately there is no patch for the demo but the full game if free from this bug via a patch but you can use the O button by pressing both the O and X buttons together just to play the game .

Ah so you have fallen prey to the infamous Firmware Glitch that disables Blu-ray Drives it happens when you directly updated from Fw 3.21 to 3.41 the old firmware 3.40 is required too successfully update the firmware a glitch that sony didnt see but dont worry they will be releasing a fix soon for more info go here
