There has been a number of spamming these days by Newbies constantly asking for a comparison of Xbox 360 or PS3! Which one should I get? Which is cheaper? Which has better games? All these questions make you wish you could ban them but not now , Now that this thread is made everyone can get there know how’s Here !
Of course there was a previous thread of comparison but still when I read it it made no sense at all whatsoever! In This thread we will talk about PS3 advantages over 360 and Xbox 360 advantages over PS3!
Features!
Ps3 has a number of features where as Xbox 360 has more! Unlike PS3 Xbox 360 has a bigger storage with a maximum of 120 GB , PS3 having only 80 GB but since PS3 HDD’s can be swapped it is not a big problem ! Next come features like Backwards compatibility, Both Systems support it Xbox 360 supporting Xbox Games whereas PS3 supporting Playstation 2 Games! Both Systems also have the feature of compatibility with I-Pods so you can transfer Music and other files to you gaming Console!
Media!
Both Systems have different type of Media that is the format of storage. PS3 supports Blu-Ray media which can handle upto 50 GB of storage. Xbox 360 supports HD-DVD which can support upto 9 GB of free space. Being in Pakistan most Type of Media are hacked except for Blu-Ray Discs which have not been hacked up till now and each Blu-Ray costs above 2.5 thousands in Pakistan. Luckily HD-DVD Format has been hacked and the games are available @ Rs.150 to Rs.350.
Online Interface!
Both Systems have completely different online interfaces but Xbox 360 interface named “Xbox Live” is superior in this Category! Playstation 3 supports the long-lasting PSN or the Playstation Network!
Xbox Live:-
Xbox Live is well reputated to being the best online interface! Xbox Live has many features. One of them is Online Multiplayer Gaming System, which allows many players to play together online. Another is to create your own Gamertag a kind of a profile in which all your online information and your achievements in Games is recorded so that everyone can see. You can even chat online using different accessories launched by Microsoft. Also you have the option to view different channels online as well as stream different videos. You can even shop online using Microsoft’s “Windows Marketplace” a place where you can buy videos, music albums, demos and even Games. But Xbox Live requires a fee for certain activities like playing online and streaming and watching videos online.
PSN:-
Playstation Network has been a long-time multiplayer community which has been free but is a bit feature-less except for the chance for users to buy demos, videos and music online.Playstation Network allows you to make a PSN ID which is your main identity throughout the PSN. All you can do on PSN is to play online and chat as well as buy stuff online. But Later on PSN would be replaced by a new interface known as Playstation Home which has more features allowing users to create an avatar which they can control and customize as well similar to that of Sims.
Games:-
Now the Games of both consoles is the real competition between the two Gaming Machines. PS3 follows the same titles which the PS2 had like MGS, S.O.C.O.M, Ratchet and Clank, Kill zone etc. Xbox 360 is following Xbox line of titles such as Project Gotham racing, Halo, Ninja Gaiden etc. Now both consoles have such games which are available on both consoles like Devil May Cry 4, Burnout paradise, Assassin’s creed etc. So you don’t have to worry about these. The Real problem is the Exclusives which make it tough to decide which console to get. Like if you are a long time fan of Halo but you also like Uncharted Drake’s Fortune on PS3 then you will be confused unless you can buy both of course. So the impact of Games does turn things around, well at least for me they do. Price:-
The Price………..probably the biggest difference in your decision. Price of these two Gaming consoles differs a lot especially since both of them have different Packages. The PS3 packages include a 40 GB Bundle costing Rs.32, 000 and the 80 GB Bundle costs Rs.45, 000. This way Xbox 360 has three bundles:-
These are the bundles which are commonly available. Arcade (Pal) costs Rs.24, 000 and Arcade (NTSC-J) which is rare costs Rs.28, 000. Go Pro costs Rs.35, 000 and Go Pro (2) costs Rs.45, 000. The price of the games is as I mentioned earlier Rs.2.5 K and above for a Blu-Ray but if cost is above rs.4.5 K then the Guy is ripping you off.
So this is the short summarized comparison between Xbox 360 and PS3. If you are a rich guy and can afford to pay Rs.2.5 K and above for a game get a PS3 but if you can’t but still want a PS3 badly then you can always exchange a game For Rs.1000.
Otherwise get a 360 like me if you are low on Budget. But be warned that Xbox 360 has a three core processor and PS3 has 9 cores ! Also Xbox 360 has a heating issue known as Red Ring of Death which completely freezes the 360 and cannot be permanently fixed ! To fix this issue Microsoft has not only increased the warranty but also installs new motherboards such as "Falcon" and "Jasper" which are less prune to this Issue !
