MashaAllah! beautiful camera indeed! ....congrats brother! imo ..for photographer possibilities are endless he sees everything in a creative manner and utilizes whatever equipment he has to get the best out of best.

Just go outdoor and start clicking with different angles and different settings.....and walah!

now as for the technical side and all that fancy talk regarding the equipments and stuff ....ill let Dragg3r Jr. handle that as he is more aware of such things.

Started shooting and a discovered a little problem. Even on ISO 1600/3200 my picture turns out almost black in manual mode. However when I move to Auto Mode there is no such problem, any idea why is it so? My shutter speed is on 1/800 and Aperture 7.3. I have to use flash when capture water drops pictures. Any kind of help is appreciated.

I Guess you messed up the Shutter Speed
The Longer/wider the shutter will be open the more light will enter the Camera lens hence Brighter picture

You should read up on the Shutter Speed-Aperture-ISO triangle. You're underexposing the picture, thats why its so dark. Stick to the Shutter/Aperture Priority mode for now, and put up your ISO on auto if your camera has that feature. Just a quickie:
Higher ISO = greater light
Higher f (aperture) number = lesser light
Faster shutter speed = lesser light (1/800 is faster than 1/400, for example)

Now if it isn't too much ( :D ) I am unable to get a decent macro in, my camera looses focus very early in the zooming? Any thoughts on this?

Read up on the minimum focusing distance. Should be in the manual or on the front of the lens.

It was 0.4 something and I am pretty sure that isn't the distance I am zooming up to.

The thing is that I bought the camera from a friend under warranty so I am trying to check if everything is fine. What else should I check?

Take a picture of something totally white and black. Check the front of the lens for scratches and other things. Check the battery compartment. Check how many pictures have been taken with the camera. Test the macro again - might be the auto focus has issues. Thats all off the top of my head. I don't really have much experience in used stuff.

Check for any door, it locks properly. Check the SD card slot.Check buttons. Read the reviews especially body and specification pages, know issues are.mentioned there. Try long end of the zoom.

P.S post any sample pictures.

Khawaja ... never use cam on M mode unless ur doing astrography ... or u have mastered every trick in the book ... M mode is totally over rated
best mode to shoot is Aperture priority ... and shoot in RAW if ur cam does it ... and then post process it ... simple
set ur sperture n iso n click click click!!!

Planning to change my DSLR, need some advise.

Hi,

I have a Canon 550d with 18-55mm and 75-300mm Ultrasonic EF III lens. I am in a mood to change my DSLR, kindly suggest me which is better and my range is 100-110k. I will buy some extra lens too including in the budget I've mention.

Preferred Brands, Canon or Nikon.

P.S I was thinking to get Nikon D 7000 but you guys might suggest me something good.

Thanks.

well switching to nikon wont do good because you have to sale out your lens also ... one more thing, the budget you mentioned is it after selling you cam body or you are going to add it afterwards ... (D7000 is a very good cam if you are willing to switch family)

How do you guys focus when the lighting conditions aren't that good? I went to a dinner today, the arrangements were in a garden and my camera (D7000) had quite a few issues focusing in the garden lights (it was by no means dark, but it wasn't very bright either). Can you guys give me any tips? It wasn't that the camera was unable to focus, it was just that it took a longer time than usual and by the time it was done, the moment had gone.
