well we need some one to go in to the lahore camera market and take some 20+ pictures and get some info for all other members here regarding the prices , the avaliability of various items

used lenses / camera / uv filters

macro lenses are expensive --but why not look for cheaper alterantives which can do the same job and 1/4 the price.

close up lensses / macro tubing for cannon / nikkon are avaliable rs.1500/- and the close up filters should not be more then rs.3000/- for a set of 4 add on .

u can get a decent pic with these.

i know boss , but thing is not every one can buy new ---why not get in used if price is right ---we have ghalib at lahore who can help us out --

all i ask if some one can spare the time enough to go out and take some shots of the place --and some real life vendors etc and what they have for offer -
of course we can pay that member a fee for his service if he wants .

lahore and karachi market are awesome for this ----

why not help the members out

nasir bhai ... shopkeepers in lahore nisbat road dnt give u final price n also not every shop keeper would like to let some window shoper to take pics of every lens and then leave their shop ... :)
all someone needs is the phone numbers of shops and then simply call em and ask them and lens is something one should buy with visual inspection ... by himself or someone who understands the lens n their faults
so the idea is not workable i guess ... haan if u can pull it off then it would be a great help ...
there r shops in rawalpindi islamabad who sell used stuff try to find something there for atleast twin cities DSLR lovers

thumbrule ... get a lens with maximum aperture size 2.8 or less
like 50mm 1.8f (portrait)
70-200 f2.8 (sports fashion wildlife)
11-16 f2.8 (landscapes, astrography)

babar bhai my friend in congo ..... i have been to most of the shops and they have antique lenses , pentax etc those who had them have allready beent taken by ppl ..
yes flicker or olx is the only limited option left....

again u are right carefull visiual inspection and taking ur camera along and checking is the only way to do it ...

@ babar bhai do u know some one who can open up a lenses for cleaning - most of the lenses at shops are quite old and dust has goten right in - they need to be cleaned throughly etc

want to know if its a good idea to give to proper shops who deal with cleaning of lenses etc .

dust n fungus is the main enemy of glass n even if u get it cleaned the protective coating that fungus has eaten till that time i think such a lens is not worth buying ...
n which shops u had been to???

btw which type of lens ur looking for????
i see u have 18-105mm then 70-300mm and 50mm prime ... 28-200 sigma is not required if u have that focal length already covered unless it is f2.8 or constant f4 lens ... sell it ...
all u now need is a macro (sigma 105mm is ur best pick n it wont come cheap)
n one utlra wide angel lens ... sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 would cost u new 40-43k n used minimum 35k depending on condition n if some one is selling cheaper then there must be a catch but must read about sigma Quality Control issues with this lens ... most copies out there r soft ...
in short sir gee u either can buy two superb lenses n keep them for life ...n take breath takin pictures or buy low end lenses lots of em n take mediocre pics with bad resolution ... for 2nd track i would strongly suggest buy nikon or canon super zoom with 40x +/- lenses ... who can do amazing macros ... superb telele photo shots and equally good portraits
so if i were u n im more into macro ill buy a DSLR body with a macro lens and kit lens n for rest of the focal lengths ill buy a super zoom ...

man u do write long posts ..babar sb .....yeah will see what i can do to get the 105mm macro ---but thats going to take some time as it aint cheap ---sigma is no where to be found and no one sells macros so thats another bummer ... ghalib told me about the 105mm macro ----

well i have to wait it out to get it i guess
