Maybe they'll do something about it later on. It's tough to say what they're doing about it when none of us work in these telcos.
Heck, I accidentally discovered Zong was using 15Mhz spectrum in some places, and Telenor using 1800Mhz 3Mhz spectrum in places. Maybe the other telcos might do something about it in the future.
I think (it's all conjecture) Mobilink is waiting to decommission Warid, and then use CA cause they have non-contiguous spectrum holdings (and why would PTA favor one company and tell the others to "move out of Mobilink's way"?). I'm sure if other companies in the world can overcome this hurdle, so can Mobilink.
That's what I think.
I'm just waiting for Warid to get decommissioned and see Mobilink do something about the spectrum. Then they can use whatever and however they want - as long as the service isn't negatively impacted, since there's no one to tell us why they're using some frequency in some places for some thing.
Did some quick research. Turns out my guess wasn't far from accurate.
And Zong advertising 150Mbps 4G speed in the start? Well, not only was that the theoretical maximum which was conditional tithe amount of spectrum holdings by a company (which Zong didn't have), but Zong stopped advertising 150Mbps speeds altogether.
And LTE Cat 3 claims for Warid's tech? Not only was there no source, but this graph (or the website which I picked it up from) mentioned nothing about Cat 3 or Cat 4. It just depends on the amount of spectrum you deploy, and you can have 150Mbps peak speeds.
Thing is, nobody here has that spectrum.
Not sure if the speeds change if LTE-A is deployed with 5Mhz (in fact, can it be done in the first place? I don't think so). LTE Categories only denote speed caps, IIRC.
