I don't know - the Jibe servers are at Google's end so why they're doing a staged roll-out is beyond me. They do a staged rollout for everything (such as Meet), which defeats the purpose when the world has already moved on (and their staged rollout is still rolling out). Google doesn't have the smartest thinkers all the time. RCS is another example (too little too late).

I don't know if the operators would make an announcement since it doesn't particularly help them, and from what I've read, Google releases these country-wise, not operator-wise, ever since they decided to "ramp up" the rollout (which is still staged, mind you...)

Go to apps > three dots > show system apps > Carrier Services > Clear Data (you may have to tap on a button named "storage", depending on which phone you have).
Go to apps > Messages > Clear Data (you may have to tap on a button named "storage", depending on which phone you have).
You don't add a phone number manually - you usually get the pop up... that's how it was back when the "leak" came out.
I did it still not working for me.

Ironically my Samsung galaxy A50 does not support CA for which Samsung charges whopping 50K. I will never buy a samsung phone again. Samsung is looting Pakistani People. For Galaxy S20 Ultra they are charging same amount which they are charging internationally but Pakistani variants does not support 5G.

It does support CA, who said it doesn't?

A friend of mine in Karachi has an A50 and he's getting CA with Jazz.

So my Xiaomi Mi9 running LineageOS 17.1 got the Messages and Carrier services update today and it also has RCS enabled now. Weirdly enough, my Jazz SIM is on the 2nd SIM slot and it still works.

Tested it by texting my other phone and it shows the little dots when typing a message and I can easily send pictures and other stuff.

Well... Not at my end. I cleared the storage for Messages and all carrier-related system apps, then rebooted the phone, and...

Nope.

Google hates me.

A stupid Samsung pakistan agent at customer care told me. This means I still have to wait Jazz, Zong or Telenor to launch 4G+ in Faisalabad to test it.

But Samsung S20 Ultra and other S20 series still lack 5G compatibility despite having hardware support.

They don't know anything about CA.

Even basic phones like A20 and A30 support 2xCA.

S20 Ultra 5G sold in Pak is the same variant sold abroad (SM-G988B).

5G is probably disabled through software and can probably be enabled with a CSC change.

What was the need to disable it in first place??

Why conduct 5g trials in a country which doesn't have volte, vowifi or basic 4g standard speeds ..

Ah, its been a long time, hope you guys doing well in these times, by the way whats this excitement about rcs thingy? If i know a little, its just a internet dependent chat integrated into messages app, same like whatsapp or telegram or any other

Or is it like you don't need data but you still get chat like functionality ? And ability of sending pics/vids ?

All well here. Thanks for asking.

Hope you and the family are doing well too.

RCS is the only exciting thing to happen in telecom industry in Pak since all telcos were dead before coronavirus and will remain dead for the years to come in regards to new features being launched.

The way you described it is exactly correct. It's nothing more than an instant messaging platform, but just built-in to the messages app.

Why advertise a phone as 5G capable in a country where there is not going to be any 5G in the next few years?
Most of the persons who are spending 250K on a phone, will definitely visit foreign countries like Dubai, UK, Singapore etc where 5G is available. And there they can not use 5G on their phone just because function has been disabled by a software.
