Agreed. I think decommissioning some of the Warid sites wasn't a great idea.
Their 4G works pretty well even with poor signal, but poor signal means it keeps dropping back to 3G and it destroys the phones battery with high idle drain.
I don't think they're decommissioning all sites - they're using the Warid sites for 900Mhz GSM, since they're using their own spectrum initially for 3G, and then 4G, and now... nothing. I don't see any 900Mhz 3G or 4G on my phone, nor do I see any carrier aggregation.
I think the blackholes are owing to unplanned-for construction, and the only way to let them know is to complain. I tested today at my house, where the signal strength on 4G was -119 dBm (absolutely piss-poor) and I managed to get around 1.5MB/s. And it's become this poor because of this building that was constructed some months back between our house and the tower, and thick layers of concrete is the worst enemy for radiowaves.
Or electromagnetic waves - the power plant/graveyard in phase 8 has absolutely horrible speeds (averaging around 4-6Mbps). But that's because the power plant is next door...
And operators in Pakistan don't believe in giving out portable devices to boost signals, nor will they launch VoLTE, nor will they enable wifi calling (since both can coexist) and not realize they can reduce the load on their towers (if at all) by using the broadband infrastructure at offices and homes. But what would I know?!
