Spartan 117 it was the movie's own mix not an equipment fault or anything....intentional i suppose.. i didn't had any issues though just one part as i said and that was repeated again.. ull know what i'm talking about when u see it

Interstellar

So let's make this easy.

+ Writing.
+ Decent production.
+ Terrific application of space travel and astrophysics.
+ Relativity. Science boners.
+ Strong start.
+ Satisfying role of cast.

- Awful editing.
- Horrible sound mix (Saw it in IMAX).
- Some great parts that suffered from being unnecessarily dramatic.
- Clunky and over-explanatory in overall plot terms.
- Ending the ending.

Honestly, I went in blind watching this film. Knew literally nothing about the film except for the director/writer and some of the cast. Now I really appreciate Jonathan Nolan's writing on this but unfortunately the pacing was pathetic. There were many themes going and they all had their genuine moments of awe and wonder. What really disappoints is the execution. It just lacked the precision to bring about the best bits of the film. The narrative was taken in a great scope but it felt short on actually delivering it consistently. Also plenty of similar themes were relatable with Sunshine, MOON and ofcourse 2001: A Space Odyssey. In a way it was different but the influences were obvious to an extent. I've always admired Christopher Nolan's ambition and despite the shortfalls this was certainly an ambitious watch.

3.5/5

EDIT:

If you get the chance to see it in IMAX or cinema, definitely give it a go.

I saw it today and most of us agreed that there were some sequences where it was difficult to hear the dialogue. It's hard to say whether it was down to the equipment or the sound mixing, mainly due to the very nature of those particular sequences. Though I would've liked the dialogue to be a bit more clear.

Well I guess it is intentional since previous Nolan movies also did have some sequences where dialogue was hard to hear. Zimmer's score always goes over them. :p

I went to see it three times, I haven't experienced any such audio issue (Twice in Imax, one without). Maybe it's just the cinema hall you guys were at.

Man, the movie has had an emotional impact on me; something similar to what I had when I watched Inception and Into the Wild. Honestly, this movie is gonna be a hit or miss with people.

Let's keep this discussion in the Interstellar thread though, this thread is becoming that in itself.

Saw Interstellar in IMAX last night

I have been waiting for the movie for quite some time now, since it was announced way back, actually. I had high hopes for the movie. Very high hopes.

So you've probably heard this phrase a million other times that the movie got a hold of my attention from the very first moment, but for me, it was actually only the second time it ever really happened. The only other movie being Mr. Nobody (2009). It did really suck me in and never let go of me for the whole 169 minutes. All of them.

The movie is not entertaining. It's not meant to be. I am saying this because I noticed a lot of people talking about how it was so boring and how they were looking at watches and playing games on their phones all the time and whatnot. Know this people. This is not your average sci-fi movie. Nope. This is not as simple as Inception. There. I said it. Those who didn't get Inception in first or so viewing might probably not even like it at all. No, there is no similarity between the two, but the complexities of time and space and gravity are mind-boggling and are on a whole different level than Inception. To understand the science of the movie, you have to know a little yourself.

The movie has exceptional sound and exceptional visuals. Cinematography, at it's finest. No, really. That's all you need to know about it.

As the credits rolled, I closed my eyes and sat silently thinking about what I just experienced. I didn't, I couldn't move till the cinema guy came and asked me to leave. The final act of the movie is typical Nolan-thingy but on a level never before seen or heard. As I walked out of the cinema, I felt like my life had changed in some way. I couldn't sleep til late night. I just remain in bed, staring into darkness, thinking about the movie, time, space, gravity and eternity and everything. The movie is about all this stuff and ultimately about love. Love transcends time and space. Love is an essential part of the movie and one has to take it into consideration in order to fully grasp the idea of this all

Interstellar is my second favorite movie of all time, behind 2001: A Space Odyssey.

You and I both, brother! I actually like the fact that the movie isn't for everyone. It makes it more personal and less of a mainstream movie with all its edges smoothed out. More of an exclusive experience.

Deliver Us From Evil..............(4/10) meh, a boring horror movie about exorcism, not once I got scared or anything, only the last exorcism was somehow entertaining!! Time pass!

A Million Ways to Die in the West.............(7.5/10) watched in HD, surprisingly this movie turned out good, some scenes were really funny and Charlize Theron was woot woot!!

Saw "hunger games: mockingjay part 1" at DHA CINEMA tonight

Well this one takes a whole new direction this time, it's quite dark and gritty etc at times the whole theme is pretty warzone type and well it's revolution time in hunger games this time. no hungergames this time but u do see quite some scenes in the movie. both the parties the rebels and the capitol are at each other's throats... katniss was the main star of the movie as ever but in this one quite alot of her presence and some overacting by her too at times really.

peeta although who had very minimal time on screen in the movie did excellent IMO though his scenes and that acting good (y) u see some returning characters including haymitch and finnick some others too but these are the ones who are with katniss most of the time on screen. other new ones including natalie dormar (game of thrones ) are in there but barely seen since katniss was the spotlight. anyways movie lacked the essence of the first ones somehow and if u haven't seen the previous parts no point in going in to watch this because u wouldn't understand sh*t.

julliane moore as alma coin was in it and robert knepper from prison break was there too just a glimpse alongside president snow ( donald sutherland ) but yeah..

a foundation to part 2 has been laid let's wait if the final part delivers.

all in all this movie as a standalone is not quite what its predecessors were clearly

Rating: 7/10 given+1 for peeta !
