As for 60fps:

  • Alex thinks UE5 has to prove itself at 60fps with some of this tech
  • it's not just a "turn off lumen to get 60fps"

Well, yeah, there's a single light source lighting up the whole city i.e. the sun (there are no street lights). Lumen can't just be disabled here, because there are no pre-baked lights. What can be done, however, is disabling HW-accelerated GI and reverting back to the SVOGI-like alternatives 🤷‍♂️

P.S. Too bad Necrokiller hasn't shared his own reaction to the Matrix demo (or his thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077 or BF 2042, for that matter lol). Aisay tou nahi hoti disscusioooon 🤣

Desprado jawaab diye baghair hi bhaag gya. I had yet to start a discusiooon on matters like IO and shader compilation stutters on PC. Battlefield 2042 performance ka bhi pooch leta, since the Matrix Awakens demo isn't on PC yet. Afsos, chalo Necrokiller hi kuch thoughts share kar dey, since he likes discussioooon 🤷‍♂️:LOL:

When consoles can handle RTGI with complex physics and Nanite-like detail (so, not Metro Exodus, then 🤣) without major compromises to performance, especially for a multiplayer game, woh bhi acceptable hoga meray liye 🤷‍♂️ :LOL:

You can have your RTGI on PC, and console folks can have cheaper alternatives that also look great 🤷‍♂️

On one hand CerebralTiger’s insecurities want to champion gameplay and support Nintendo. On the other hand, next gen is all about dem higher polygon counts. “ Nanite-like” LMFAO 🤣

If you're going to put it like that, the GI we've had in games for years with bounce lighting is also a derivative of ray tracing lol. The difference is in approach. Realistically, RT requires HW-acceleration, while SVOGI does not. It's approximation based on voxel cones, and, therefore, updating it every frame is simply a lot cheaper and more performant.

    Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.
