The frame rate cut-scene dropping to 24 FPS is a deliberate thing, it locks to 24 whenever the characters are talking. A "cinematic" movie frame rate, I guess.

But, again, this is not a game, just an engine demo.

I think STALKER 2 is going to be the first AAA UE5 game on PC and consoles.

Well, it is a hastily thrown together, likely unoptimized, demo.

Most actual games won't have anywhere near the density of this demo. I can easily see games with different scopes and scales running 60 FPS with this, and with how good UE5's TSR is at reconstructing lower resolutions, no need to hit for high native resolutions.

STALKER 2 (the nearest retail UE5 title) will also have a 60 FPS mode on the Series consoles, whether that mode has any RT on it or what resolutions it may be is not yet fully clear.

edit: STALKER 2 is actually gunning for a 120hz mode as well:


So, the head room is there. It depends on the kind of game, density etc.

if the scope, fidelity and density is reduced, then “this” demo isn’t being achieved.

And then there are people like CerebralTiger who think this can be done at 60fps on consoles too.

Champions Nintendo games, but loses his mind over Virtua Cop level “gameplay” in ~2022. Because giraafixxxx 🤣

If you want this level of fidelity on $399, $499 machines then something will have to give .. lol

I think maybe a 3090 card and a beefy CPU only will be able to run this at native 4K at 60 FPS.

As per Alex, the cinematic segments are more 'heavier' and the game play open world is less resource intensive. The open world segments DRS goes to 1620p vs 1440p in the cinematic segments. With UE5's TSR, image quality won't be an issue.

UE5 looks extremely impressive so far.

The free roam was not as impressive as the cut scenes.

DF also says UE5 still has to prove its scalability for 60fps games and TRS is no match for DLSS.

Right, DLSS requires dedicated cores, TRS is a part of the software package and supported on all platform UE5 runs on .. even Switch (Huzzah !!) .. For a 'built-in component', it's the best that can be.








Goddayum, I can't stop gushing over how impressive this surprise demo is.

Cpu isn't the hurdle here, and even if it were, scaling back on # of NPCs can yield the headroom. Other games have done this 🤷‍♂️

As for the gpu, imagine thinking a demo that runs at 1620p/30fps can't target 60fps at a lower res. This is Watch Dogs Legion all over again 🤣

The free roam was not as impressive as the cut scenes.
Calling it Virtual Cop level gameplay/interactivity, and then accidentally admitting there's free roam in the very next post. Yikes!! 🤣

However, thanks to Unreal Engine 5's temporal super resolution (TSR) technology the 1404p-1620p rendering on Xbox Series X and PS5 looks suitably 4K in nature. However, in the most intense action, 1080p or perhaps lower seems to be in effect, which really pushes the TSR system hard.
Imagine cherry picking the upper limit while ignoring that the lower limit is 1080p (or perhaps lower lmao). And that's for 30fps. Yikessss! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
