Seems like it's a very barebones 'remaster' going by what I'm reading online.

For the PS4 release - as played on a PS5 in this video - performance is comparable to the 10-30fps range of the PlayStation original from 1999. Surprisingly there are points where it even descends to lower frame-rates in direct comparison, while using a new enhanced visuals mode.

Square Enix has been shitting the bed recently. How did they manage to get PS1 emulated game drop to 10~12 FPS on a PS5.

Performance is really rough, but it matters less for me in a turn-based game. The AI upscale could've been cleaner, but it's decent regardless. Especially like the additional work done on the character models. The music is timeless and didn't need remastering to begin with.

Hopefully the frame rate is improved via a patch. Will pick this up on sale.

Funny thing, the game in docked mode and almost Full Frame resolution has issues whereas handheld mode doesn’t seem to exhibit the same issues (from what I’ve experienced so far). Hopefully they’ll patch some fixes soon.
