Despite Being On-Disc, Mega Man / Pac-Man Won't Be Playable for Street Fighter X Tekken on 360
Assuming you own the game, Mega Man and Pac-Man are, at this moment, on your Street Fighter X Tekken Xbox 360 disc. Along with 50 other playable characters. But…
"Unfortunately for Xbox 360 users, Mega Man and Pac-Man are exclusive to the PS3 version of the game."
That's Street Fighter X Tekken producer Tomoyaki Ayano explaining the content's exclusivity to Siliconera.
"Every game has data on it that is unused. In this case, Street Fighter X Tekken for the Xbox 360 did have the Mega Man and Pac-Man data on it. But, we never intended to release these characters on the 360. They are PS3 exclusives and that was our intention from the very beginning. The are not going to be timed exclusives either, they’re PS3 exclusives."
So Xbox 360 / PS3 Street Fighter X Tekken owners can opt to fork over another $20 for access to Blanka, Cody, Dudley, Elena, Guy, Sakura, Alisa Bosconovitch, Bryan Fury, Christie Monteiro, Jack-X, Lars Alexandersson, and Lei Wulong on July 31 (all of which are also currently sitting on their discs). And at some point in the future, PS3 owners will have the option to further unlock their disc's content, granting Mega Man and Pac-Man, most likely via an additional outlay of cash.
So who wins here?
PS3 owners, who may be subjected to further nickel and diming but have the option of adding The Blue Bomber and Pac-Man?
Or 360 owners, who won't have the option to play those characters but for whom said nickel and diming would seem to coming to an end July 31?
