Could someone help me out, I'm unable to change my primary and secondary DNS servers on my Huawei modem through the root login (authorization issues). However, the telecomadmin login doesn't work either. Do I have to write a ticket, or is there specific login details that allow me permission to change DNS servers?

What you could do is disable wifi on the Huawei modem, plug in your own wifi modem, change the DNS settings on that, and voila! There are quite a few people who have said they're unable to log into the Huawei modem because telecomadmin/admintelecom is disabled (thank God PTCL hasn't disabled it on mine).

SF and Transworld do this for Huawei equipment. It's locked, and even if you do somehow get access to the ONT, as soon as it establishes connection with the OLT, it'll automatically pull a config file which overwrites whatever changes you made.

If SF offers it, I'd definitely recommend bridge mode. That way you can dial PPPoE from your own router and be in control of everything.

Another solution would be to do what shaheerk suggested, but that could cause some double NAT issues.

Thank you for the responses! I ended up calling them up and having them change it manually, which they obliged to. Will definitely look into bridge mode as well.

You don't have to use the DNS servers Huawei gives your OS. You can configure your choice of resolvers at the OS level.

So done with Stormfiber. A month since bad latency spikes and packet loss 24/7 yet their customer support fails to do anything. Constant packet loss in every multiplayer game on multiple servers and latency to Asia/Middle East and now Europe too spikes like crazy every few minutes, making it impossible to use it for online gaming.

If you live in Lahore and looking for a good internet for gaming, I would definitely not recommend StormFiber anymore. They have shifted their Lahore bandwidth to PIE so you are just better off getting a PTCL connection for cheaper and getting the same ping.

On the same note, anyone knows a good ISP which uses Transworld routing in Garden Town, Lahore? Thank you.

They don't seem to care much about pings like PTCL. I also emailed them numerous times to no avail. They give bot-like replies every time and do nothing to improve them. Pretty hopeless situation at the moment. Even optix is on PIE. Fiberlink is too unreliable. So pretty much stuck with stormfiber at the moment. Also it is difficult to pay for installation charges every time for new connection. Transworld is too slow to expand.

Don't hold your breath for Transworld.

They've been going downhill as well.

Random periods of high pings during the day, 400-500 ms to Europe and SEA. At the same time, the speed will drop down to less than half of your subscribed package and all they can say is that your complaint has been forwarded to relevant department.

At the moment, all ISPs in Pakistan are complete and utter garbage.

I have observed this from TES forums as well. It is quite disappointing that they can't handle such low number of customers at this time and their payment system is worst compared to other ISPs.

I was considering installing TES alongside SF but looks like I should wait.

So Storm Fiber finally expanded to block 5 of Gulistan-e-Johar, which is great. But is it a good idea to switch to SF from DreamNet? The thread is too long to read tho
How's the following on SF:
Ping on PS4?
Streaming?
Downloading?
Is ebravo.pk accessible?
What's the monthly data limit under their FUP?

Normal latencies:
130-150ms to Europe.
40ms to dxb.valve.net
100ms to Singapore Amazon Servers

Excellent speeds, full 20/20 speed is given 24/7, barely any downtimes.

Twitch streaming has taken a hit for me recently. It's hard to watch 900p60fps streams without buffers even on 20mbps. However streaming itself is great, I can stream 720p60fps from my PS4 easily without any effect to my connection.
Downloading depends on what package you opt for. You will be guaranteed full speeds.

I don't think there is any data limit to be afraid of, unless you are going to download terabytes of data everyday lol. Other than that, definitely opt for Stormfiber. I can't access ebravo.pk tho.

What makes me sad is that these isp in Pakistan starts off well and when they get lots of users, their existing bandwidth gets low. Instead of buying more bandwidth/better routes and decrease congestion, they don't even acknowledge it (they give better routes to some of its customers while other suffers). Typical business practice all over Pakistan. Start your business but with time instead of improving by spending money just focus on charging people. This is the downfall of these companies and sadly they don't realise it.
