im looking for something slightly better than the x540s but not too more expensive.

and btw please comment as to how you thought the x540s were!

brother first of all as you have onboard sound so you need to get a sound card so first get a sound card
so creative sound blaster 5.1 sound card in 1600 is good +
the Logitech X-540 5.1 is completely worth spending these 9k and check its review here

You can get those speakers for 8k, thats how much I paid for them, got 'em for my uncle's HTPC They are awesome and totally worth the price as long as you get some good soundcard. There is a guy selling many different sound cards on PG, get a Audigy2 ZS Platinum or Audigy 2 ZS gold plated from him and get the speakers from Vmart for 9k or search market and get 'em for 8k like I did

ya absolutely L-X540 are far better then any C-inspire speakers in the market. pretty good sound, no distortion on high/max volume.

buy creative inspire 7.1 speakers, and get sound blaster extreme series 7.1 audio card.

Ok on serious note:
Basically what u have to look at when buying speakers is:
1) RMS WATT
2) BRAND
3) CONNECTIVITY
4) SUBWOOFER ( how big)
5) WIRING (will explain this)

I already have a speaker system in mind for you in ur range, will slightly out of range but it will suite u...
its called the Edifier R501
My neighbour has this speaker system and when he turns it up i can really hear what he iis hearing....
Secondly this speaker system has just under 70RMS which i think is wrong, if u test the speakers they sound like they have 150 RMS ....
The R501 in lahore from the dealers in hafeez center costs 12000rs.... the Satelite Speakers are very good plus the bass aswell...
