Sony Touts Its New VAIO X Series As “World’s Lightest Notebook”

The VAIO X, due October 22nd, in black and champagne features a durable carbon fiber casing, seamless aluminum keyboard panel and a touch pad with multi-touch functionality. This allows you to easily zoom in and out, flip through pictures, rotate items and scroll vertically and horizontally without ever touching your mouse. There’s also a Motioneye web camera built-in.

To compliment Windows 7 Home Premium, Sony has went with an Intel Atom Z550 2.0ghz with 2GB of DDR2/533Mhz RAM. That is pretty strong considering how tiny this laptop is, but some early critics wanted more power for the price. Some have pegged it simply as a bigger VAIO P, since the hardware specs are similar. Well let me say that this is definitely much more sleek

its really awsm only 1.6 LBs. i was planning to buy this feather. But the processror is crap.. No c2d no nothing. Only Atom i think

Atom and Intel GMA500 actually kinda made it possible to make it so slim and slight. Pretty sure its alright for what its meant to do... simple on the go computing. But with their displays I'd love to see smooth HD playback.

This looks slick... but damn that VGA out really kills the looks! For the purpose of presentations etc they could've just added a mini-DVI port. Keyboard is pretty standard on what you see on all Sony laptops, very much like the Macbook Pros/Air. Pretty expensive for an Atom based netbook (11 inch...fits the category I suppose) but its Sony so the brand pricing is expected. Overall pretty decent.

The Dell Adamo seems more appealing to me...although with its bigger screen and C2D cpu etc its much more expensive.

Not really .Atom is specifically made for laptop or other than laptops .Only, plus point Atom has better efficiency and less heat dissipation .If I'm right now Atom has 2 core like core 2 duos ?
