The Last Guardian will only run at 60 fps on PS5 if you have the disc




Folks with the PS5 Digital Edition won’t be able to take advantage of the increased frame rate



Those looking to run The Last Guardian at a smooth 60 frames per second on the PlayStation 5 will have to own the game’s disc.

The Last Guardian was originally released without a frame rate cap, but this was later patched, setting the frame rate cap to 30 fps. According to a video by NX Gamer, the only way to surpass this is to run it on the PlayStation 5 using the physical disc.

That all being said, if you pre-ordered the disc-less version of the PlayStation 5, then you won’t be able to play The Last Guardian at 60 fps at all, unless another patch comes out to expand the frame rate cap.


It’s unknown if other backward-compatible PlayStation 4 games will also have this problem where you need the physical disc in order to play in 60 fps, but this serves as a reminder that physical discs are nice to have.

Polygon has reached out to Sony for clarification, but has not yet received a response.

The PlayStation 5 will launch on Nov. 12, alongside several games like Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Demon Souls.

Unless you're a pleb, nobody would settle for a "used TV" for their new shiny console

But even then, the best value next gen TV starts at 1400$, couple that with a 500$+ console which would be sold at thrice the price in PAK, and a couple of 70$ games to boot, imagine where that cost would end up.

My point being, console gaming is equally as expensive as PC gaming is. While the console itself may be cheap, the other hardware costs add up to be as much, if not greater than a 1500$ gaming PC which offers similar or better value.

Conversative $1000 for the rest of the PC (Mobo, CPU, RAM, SSD, various accessories)
$2589 for not even the best gaming monitor

The PS4 attach rate was 9.6 games per user, lets round it to 10.

PS5 + "best value 120hz TV" + 10 games + 5 years of PS+ = $3000~ give or take

5 years of console gaming + online + 10 games (and not even counting the 2~3 free games you get with PS+ every month) is about half of what just building a JKhan special PC would cost.

The funniest thing is that even for people 'for whom money is not an issue', can't even get a locked 60 FPS with RT on on Watch Dogs, even they have to settle for an avg 41 FPS. You can spend $5000 on a behemoth gaming PC but still play in a cinematically fluctuating 41 FPS.

And prospective Souls Fans can always visit gaming cafes to get their fill of PS5 games, I hear they're all the rage in Pakistan these days, especially in the LHR region.
