Hello !!! I'm interested in concept sketch making and digital painting.I would really appreciate it if someone could guide me in the right direction.First of all : I am really bad at drawing clothe folds/textures .So if anyone could point me to a tutorial,I would really appreciate it.Second: Can anyone tell me of an entry level graphics tablet since I also want to learn digital painting.

well.... tutorials try on deviant art or just practice.... or go to 'ctrl paint'... that site has some good tuts..... as for a tab, I have a bamboo connect.. choti wali.... but any local tab (genius???) tab with 1024 levels of sensitivity will do fine... they do work pretty good

Thanks guys !!!! I found the CTRLpaint website....It looks pretty helpful..I just have one question....Should I just start from a tab or first practice with a pencil ??The CTRLpaint tutorials suggest the pencil practice first.

first of all go step by step dont rush into whole portrait/sketch at once! practice alot on single part and then the next one it will be alot easier when you draw the full sketch combine, secondly its better to practice with pencil first digital drawing is not sort of easy and natural, later on you can buy wacom tablet or if low on budget then Genuis tab

kind of depends..... do u draw a little? probably start getting your hand down with a pencil....
..... do u draw reasonably well?.... get a tab if u are really into digital art (a sasti wali genius one, trust me)
and the learning curve is pretty steep... first month or two will be horrible.

First of all, you should never 'begin' with digital drawing. Almost every artist I follow, none of them started digital and 99% artists recommend starting with traditional art (with pencils). Once you dive into the harder parts (gesture, muscles), all will make sense and clothe folds will come naturally. As for a starting point, take some images of games, cartoons, anime etc. and try to copy them. This is very important, you'll be learning how pros do it and there will come a time you'll do it without thinking.
It's better this way than re-inventing the wheel. Also get started doing little things in Photoshop to get used to its interface (not sketching stuff). As for a tablet, go for a Wacom whatever model it may be instead of Genius etc. Brand name holds power here. :)
