heard about 2 and 3 platter ones..what about the new one platter? any sign from where i can guess if its 1, 2 or 3 platter ??

Z1exxxx, the 1 indicates its 1tb/platter. If u get z3xxxxx then it is 3 platter. The 2 platter drive is better. [MENTION=8060]abobobilly[/MENTION] for detailed info. But u can carefuly read every post of this thread, u wil get ur answer.

bro Z1Exxxx is recommended and yes it is 2 platter drive, 1 means 1tb/platter, matlb 2tb hai to 1tb k 2 platter hain.. . and yes u should get Z1Exxxx drive as cerberus and I did.

However, the purpose of choosing 2TB was because ONLY 2TB model fits "Price/Performance" perfectly. You'll be wasting money BADLY if you were to purchase 1TB model.

Easiest way to check is the groove on top right. Its much deeper in 2 platter drives and less deeper in 3 platter. There may be other HDDs on the shop so check each one.

Personally I would say don't get the seagate, Get WD as they have a utility to turn off APM if you want to, this 2TB Seagate keeps clicking and chirp a lot (Aggressive head parking). However very good drive, 190+ sequential reads.

Also the serial no. must have Z1E.
