As most of you would be aware that PG is shutting down on the 1st of July, 2012. The reasons mentioned for this action are the unavailability of funds to keep the site running. I know that this is a very sad news for most of the PG members, who never want this to happen. I have a suggestion that we should all be together to keep PG alive. All the members who are willing can contribute in a fund raising campaign by donating at least Rs. 500, or more. This would be a great hand to keep a beneficial site like this to serve us for a longer period. This is a sincere request and I hope that those who agree with me will step forward and help the cause. Another thing is that one should not be un-thankful and should not expect or start asking for favors after giving a donation, as PG has already been a great welfare site. I hope that you all understand what i mean...

@All

Guys, I m really glad to have found you people who are concerned about solving this problem. now I feel that I am not alone and we shall succeed in our mission. Thanks for your encouragement.
You see, PG has over 1000 visitors daily, and if only 10% of those are willing like you all, a very feeble amount of Rs. 500 per person will be enough to help the cause. Those who can donate more would be appreciated. "When, How and where" is something we should discuss with Inferno..

PG has (mashallah) a very huge user base... Even if every visiting member donates 1 Rupee every day that is 1000Rs / day and 30000Rs/ month!....

@Inferno, if finance is the main issue, can you please create an official thread for it with required figures, i mean the thread about donation (so the members have a clear picture) OR should we consider this thread official (if yes then add info in this thread)?

For some reason i have seen more than one Pakistani forums ending up like this.....Out of pocket and too large to be sustained..
A viable business plan helps..
Most threads on this forum are opened in Market place where people make ACTUAL MONEY by selling their stuff..I cant see any reason why a nominal fee for putting up your items for sale isn't an option for owners of this forum....
At worst lesser people will visit the forum if the don't want to pay up,and that will be good as load on servers and bandwidth will be saved...Although there are real chances that people will pay for selling their stuff here...
Apart from asking a very small fee from Premium sellers..fee which is less than a single visit to PizzaHut..The website has always shied away from Putting up a fee from everybody who sells on MarketPlace...
At least it was worth a try but was never even tried....

Anyway..It was good to be here...A round of applause for the owners of this webiste for keeping it FREE for so long...

Obviously if the website isn't making money there is no point in continuing with it,spending ones own money for people to have online socializing...and shutting it down will be the right thing to do....

Anything that is a deadweight and draining my bank account without generating any profit..I rather get rid of it than continuing with it.

Like everyone said contribution by members is great it could help the community maybe even make it better than it ever was, I'm just saying let's contribute Rs.500 for this site as Live wire said even if 500 members contribute it could mean wonders. :)

okay so now that the imminent danger has passed...

- @iNF3RN0: theres many mods and admins and watnot here and they do a good job (great job) yes etc etc. But if behind the scenes things are this dire and can collapse all of a sudden, then active measures m friend!

- As suggested above, willfull donations are teh way to go (NO way these are handmedowns. And in NO way they should be a guarantee of any consideration whatsoever). We log on everyday, why not spend something outta our pocket to keep it going? you know how many guys here brag abt their hardware worth thousands of rupees here right? well its time to put all our members money where our collective bocas are.

- the only difficult part in all this is assigning someone responsible. A position of Treasurer if you will. And Im sure theres some talented ppl here who're proffessionally sound enuff to suggest ways to make this a viable option.

- We should all remember that to make this forum a 'going concern' we need a sustainable plan and not some band aid solution.

Remember, we are a 40,000 strong community. Lets make it count people!

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
