To all those saying you can get a good score without tuition, well of course you can but taking a SAT prep class will significantly increase your chances of getting a good score. Sure the admission process is "holistic" or whatever they like to call it, but at the end of the day, numbers do matter a lot. Its a lot easier to judge someone based on a good SAT score than on a good essay. Trust me I have been there, and one of my biggest regrets is not having taken a SAT prep course. I guess at the end, it all comes down to how serious you are about this.

Although I'd have preferred you'd have given in this January, it's not too late. October of A2 is a very popular choice. I myself gave it then. Although, I'll suggest giving ACT instead.

Though, if you don't mind me asking, 1- Where do you plan on applying. Not just the area, specific unis, 2- what course.

Secondly, don't do those 1000 word outdated lists. Outdated. Even the two wordsmarts are now outdated. Try finding the latest version of Direct Hits Vocab. (or sth like that. Don't remember, been a while).

If you end up giving the SAT, use the CollegeBoard books. I've used CB, PR and Barrons, and the latter two are slightly different from the actual test. the CB book has actual exam papers. I did those, and a few past SAT papers. (torrents).

1. Computer Science. I found some good Unis that do not require SAT II (I don't think I'll have time to give that, what with A2 being quite difficult and all).

What score did you get on your first attempt?

I haven't started prep yet since I'm abroad. I'll start as soon as I get back. I did solve some practice questions on the collegeboard website, though, and scored about 90% correct in English and 80% correct in Math. The questions I got incorrect were categorized as 'hard', so I'm not all that worried for now.

Also, thank you for the Direct Hits vocabulary recommendation! The examples are quite interesting, so learning new words will be quite a lot of fun.
