This gen of consoles is here to stay for a longer period of time I'm sure. CPU + GPU configs, die shrinks etc will always be possible with the passage of time.... but its a whole console we're talking about. I'm glad MS finally got a hold of the RROD issue (seemingly), and since they were never hardware manufacturers primarily, I don't have any confidence in them anyway. At the end of the day, Having 3 established lines of consoles is enough for them to cover all price segments. Slim version feels unnecessary for MS. Sony definitely needed it.

Yaar just because they made mistakes on the first console doesn't mean they'll make them in the second console(if any).So i would say maybe they should do it,This will be a great opportunity to RROD once and for all.I just hope they make a good design for it.

Actually all these chips and boards Falcon,jasper valhalla and all that other crap are all just attempts to fix the mistake they made with the 360 case and design,They themselves are NOT mistakes.And Developing a slim console will be a really good opportunity for MS to end RROD,and it doesn't have to be a slim they can redesign it to be fatter if they want.We just want to see the end of RROD.
