You won't get better latency since the public IP's have variable routing from region to region. Your best bet is to get a static IP in the 203.135.x.x prefix, that has by far the best routing everywhere.

4mb internet connection and that 250 package which have unlimited call used to be for approx 2600 (including All taxes)

and now since they have applied the tax on DSL
its now 3.07k

and now... to PTCL...

Yes, what you are seeing is correct. I have 4 MB internet but somehow i downloaded more than 300+ GB in July and was charged 5k extra for that month.

5k (usage charge) + 2.3k 4 MB DSL charges = 7.3k

Okay, now check the tax. These bastards have actually charged the tax on the usage+dsl charge instead of the DSL charge only. As a result, the tax alone is 2.2k. Now i did pay my previous month's bill but somehow it isn't registered here hence they have added arrears and the final bill is 12.2k

anyways

I had a detailed conversation with PTCL people

they told me that before july, the bill used to be 2560, including everything

but now from July they have started to put TAX on Internet as well

2100 (4MB DSL charges)
250 (Line rent/Free call package)
30 (CLI/Special service charges)

Total it makes 2380

Now here comes the shitty thing

Apply 19.5% GST on 2100 now,

0.195*2100= 409.5

Apply tax on that Line rent/free call package

280*0.195=54.6rs

So the total tax that we have to pay is 410+55=465

So now 2380+465=2854

Now add some more tax, which i dont knw konsay

which makes the bill total to 3030 rupes only

so now 4mb internet connection will be for 3k

So i said to them that i have prepared application,nic photocopy, and recent bill copy

and tomorrow i will be going to give that into PTCL ass! simple and clear

thats wayy to much expensive

operators are bound to follow government laws and taxes are levied by government. Separate taxes for data services are being levied in KPK and Sindh. Why not focus tax complaints on government by raising your voice instead of complaining to compaies about tax.

i have heared that they have remove the Cap of 300 gb from some packages is it true ? like 8mb and above ?

Holy shit thats a lot,but at least they didnt scam the money out of you since it really happened.
And my net has been disconnecting and connecting again after 1p.m today for some reason,anyone else getting this prob? The downloading speed went to 700KB/s for a few mintues too.

I called PTCL helpline and two different people told me the 4mb package is unlimited. There's no download restriction of 300gb..
Are they lying through their teeth?

Just confirmed from 1236 - The 5k extra charge once bandwidth usage exceeds 300gb is INDEED present on packages up till 4mbit.

Looks like they have finally started to charge people going over the limit.

You can use DUMeter for Windows and Vnstat for Linux to monitor your download totals to make sure they don't go over the limit.

Torrents and direct HTTP downloads are both working fine for me - maybe somewhat slower than top speeds, but it is still just about peak usage hours right now.
