Why are we thinking that everything is gonna be Gta4
GTA IV PC version is MUCH better than its console counterparts, if you have the right hardware. Since money isn't a problem for PS3 gamers (4 x PS3 games = Top of the Line GTX260), we only consider quality.

Look at Rockstar's release notes. You'll see just how much better the PC version is. Or better still, PLAY it on HIGH.

And well... I don't care as long as I get to play the game.

Speaking of delayed releases... GTA SA was released on the XBOX seven or right months after the PS2 release. Did that stop XBOX fanboys from drooling all over it? This isn't a joke. Some of them actually do drool over games.

It's not a Final Fantasy or Metal Gear to buy a gaming machine for instantly.
True for the majority...agreed but Alan WAKE is the major reason for me owning a 360...just like FF13 & MGS4 were for U brother!
just like Uncharted 2 is the reason for owning a PS3 this fall.(y)

if you have the right hardware
Well, thats the problem isn't it?

weird that you'd talk about quality and include the PS3 version, and not the 360 version, considering the PS3 version is running in sub HD, where as the 360 verison is natively 720p and has better post processing effects.

quality and economy. That's the best comination, no ?

Well, thats the problem isn't it?

didn't you get the memo, money isn't a problem for an average* pakistani gamer

naah man, too much praise for the game, it hasn't been any thing other than 2 trailers since 2005 (not counting this E3), just not enough material or press-hype to deem it this worthy

hell, i'd say FFXIII is probably a bigger reason to get a 360.

It has been proven here several times that you can get good graphics even with a mediocre PC. And 360-gaming is cheap only because of the almost-free game DVDs here.

If the next-gen of 360 started coming with BD, what will you guys do?

Become a LOTA? :) Because I don't think devs will mind lesser piracy... As it is one of the biggest reasons (according to you pros) that PC gaming is dying.

Off-topic:

Raptoria, one thing that is never put into perspective is how consoles are unsuitable for RTS games. I know this isn't related to the topic but... Its a short-coming that is never really discussed.

Depends on how much quality you'd like to compromise, for economy...

This argument is getting rather lame. It has been proven time and time again that building a/an HD-capable PC isn't that hard even if you have a tight budget.

so even though PC games are pretty much completely FREE, even you won't consider it cheap, atleast not in comparison to gaming on the 360.

mission accomplished :D

based on the example you used to highlight your point (GTA IV), i can bet you that the 360 (for me and my 15k purchase atleast :D) is the best solution for both economy and performance considerations.

This argument is as valid as 360's getting RRODed. The question isn't just "building" the system, the question is building a system that can match the console pound for pound on that price range. Both in terms of technical capability and lasting appeal, i-e not having to upgrade in a little while to keep your system "current", neither of Which i'm pretty sure the 20k PC can do.

a very common example, the same 360 from 2005 is the same 360 that's in 2009, but i can bet you that the same PC that was considered "modern" and "Current" in 2005, is nothing even close by today's standards.

And even then you have your occassional single-game oddities on PC, for example Riddick, according to Eurogamer, lagged at 720p on a rig that ran Crysis. Meanwhile the 360/PS3 versions were flawless for their hardware.

Building and maintaing a PC for 720p will take an upgrade every 2 years (if it was initially built for 720p) Round about 6-15k ... depending on what you initially bought. You would usually need a GPU update, which would be 6-7k ... but if you hav a crappy processor (lets say an AMD X2 or Pentium D from 2005/6) ... the cost would be more.

X360 would win the comparision by a huge margin, if it was not for the RROD. If you get 2 or even 1 rrods since 2005-2009 .. buying a replacment console wouldnt be too cheap either!

Still, RROD being on a chance ... but PC being a mandatory thing to upgrade ... it is no doubt that the PC is more expensive. Not stupidingly expensive like some people say upgrade gpu every year for 20-30k and what not ... but there is definately an upgrade expense you have to look into every couple of years (unless you spend lots at one time ... lets say you intially got a 8800GTX back in 2007, that will still last you out an year or more at 720p, but initially at time of release it would be doing more than 1080p)

@Chandoo

I DO assure you that the 20k PC i talk about right now can do 720p easily. Its almost the same setup as Shybers ... actually, more similar to mine that his. I play the 'latest' stuff at 720p piss easy! GTA4 works like a charm, infact ive gotten upto 1600x1200 ... but it had slight lag in rain + fog scenes.

But yes, to maintain ... ill probably need to change my card sometime in late 2010!

pretty much what i've been saying all this time (minus the lovely dose of sarcasm:p), thank you for putting it into a lingo PC people can understand with the graphic card names and all :p

Again, it would cost you ... and ... as we can see with USUF x360 as well as many more ... its not a permanent solution :)! Ask any X360 techie and he will tell you ... One a rrod, always a rrod!

here's hoping there's more variety in the combat and the game doesn't just make us go "flashlight for 3 seconds, than one bullet" because that looked like it'd get old real fast.

I'm expecting killer plot. I know it doesn't compare, but donno, it gives off those SH2 and SH3 vibes to me.

the plot is the key to the game, that's what Sam Lake has been saying since 2005, if the game doesn't have a good plot people are gonna go ape shit.

I expect this to be an overhyped p.o.s. ... :S

Taken too long, and now loosing its supposed prime hype factor!
i think so too, in majority of the cases the result is disappointing ,
from where i c it, remedy has put too much hype in this one, with
MS backing it up, they have in a way raised the bar for themselves,
now the game has got to be PRETTY GOOD, or i may say GREAT to
save people from disappointment.
even if it averages like 8.5 on ign, people r gonna say they wasted
5 years in making THIS thing.
example of this scenario is the recently released Prototype, even
though it was a great game, i totally enjoyed playing it, but when
compared to the hype it had, and the (i think) 4 years development
time, it kinda not lived up to it.

Heh, Alan Wake needs to be really good. You know why? It'll be released alongside FFXIII and GOW3. Am beginning to think it might have more success on PC :p

GOW3 isn't coming to the 360. And anyway FFXIII and GOW3 are totally different genres with totally different fanbases. So if its any good I don't think its sales will be endangered by FFXIII or GOW3.

I expect this to be an overhyped p.o.s. ... :S
It'll be awesome. In Remedy we trust.

I know what you mean, I have that POS game and I remember for how long that stayed in development hell, but Remedy is different.

As far as the game, the story is the main focus of Alan Wake and of course killer gameplay. I have to admit using the flashlight to weaken the enemies is a great idea. And don't forget not all enemies can be easily killed, sometimes it's wise to just evade them. This will make sure the combat doesn't become too one dimensional.
