I'm looking for a new laptop, and my maximum budget is 85,000 PKR. So far, I have found Dell Inspiron 15R Special Edition (N7520) to outshine all other laptops within same price range. Here are its specifications:

  • 3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-3612QM Processor (6MB cache, up to 3.1 GHz)
  • 8GB 2 DIMM (4GB x2) DDR3 1600Mhz (I'll be getting 12GB as per my request.)
  • AMD Radeon™ HD 7730M DDR3 2GB (Swappable between this and Intel HD Graphics 4000.)
  • 1000GB SATA hard drive (5400RPM)
I haven't listed other specifications as they do not matter here, for now.

Here's the problem: This laptop comes in two flavours. One is with a HD (720p) screen, and the other packs FullHD (1080p) screen; both of them are 15.6". I'm not sure which one is available in Pakistan, and in my price range. I have tried calling the my preferred reseller, and according to him, they have the one with HD screen. (i.e. 1366 x 768.)

What do you guys propose? Should I get the laptop with HD-only, or try for FullHD (which I'll have a hard time finding.)? If you have other laptops of same (or better) specifications, please do suggest.

If you can get fullHD one with ease then go for it otherwise 720p (comeon its not that bad)
It's not so much about the 'ease' as it is about price change. I'm sure there will be one hell of a abrupt price change between HD and FullHD. I'm getting the one with 720p from 79,000 PKR (customer discount) to 84,000 PKR. BUT! I'm not exactly confirmed that it is 720p in fact.

Go for it as this resolution is fine for 15.6in laptop. Lower resolution means more fps in games.

Well i have n5520 and i bought it for 60K , it same thing just ram is 4b, intel core i5 3rdgeneration ,and GPU of 1 GB, harddisk is slow as its 5200rpm.
Core i7 will reduce your battery life , GPU is not that powerful and i believe it doesn't comes with Original windows, so i believe you should buy n55200 rather then this as it's almost the same thing ! You can save around 25K . warna with budget of 85 K , you should really consider ultabook!

SSD if possible, 1080p screen if possible, and the GPU is CRAP. I would settle with HD 4000 only. 7730M is crap! It's like having i7 3770K with GT 210 :p

Could you elaborate on this? On what basis are you claiming that Intel HD Graphics 4000 is better than ATI Radeon 7730m?

I never said it was better. Intel HD 4000's performance would be on par with 7730M so there really is no point in the 7730M being there, becuase it's DDR3 and it's an entry level card. If the card had GDDR5 memory then it would've been worth it.
