I am getting LDN soon I am in P Block DHA Lahore, hoping for a good service.

So guys plz simply rate LDN overall, considering disconnetions, consistent speeds, customer support, resolving problems and any other stuff.

Also state the reason for your rating, and if possible the area u live in.

Depends on how you wanna use it, if its for gaming then go for PTCL. It has the same packages as LDN in terms of speed and monthly charges but offers better pings/latencies when playing online....

If you're gonna be using LDN for simple downloading, surfing e.t.c then it is definitely one of the best. I have NEVER seen such constant speed on any other internet connection. Back in the days when i had their 512KB/s connection i'd get a constant 59-60 KB/s download speed....

The surprising thing is that the download speed would NEVER drop to even 58 I monitor my download speed through window's own Task manager, it tells you the exact down and up speeds....

I dont wanna play games online, the thing with ptcl is that they dont give a shit about their customers, thats all. Absolutely no custoomer support.

I rhink it all depends on the condition of the phone line which mine is not very good at the moment, hope LDN fixes that coz my line is divided from outside, so i guess bring one direct line to the modem will solve the problem.

after being upgraded to 4mb...my pings on cod4 are 50-80. which is decent.

whereas earlier on 2mb i used to get 100-120.

I'll rate LDN, but I'll rate others too so that you can have a relative comparision:

PTCL - 9/10
Maxcom (KHI only) - 8/10
LDN - 7/10

PTCL pros: Unbeatable latencies. Higher BW than stated. Means that on a 1MB connection, you can get upto 1.2 etc.
PTCL cons: Tech support can be a pain in the ass and billing issues, if occur, can be painstaking to resolve.

Maxcom pros: Unmatchable tech support. Very professional atttitude.
Maxcom cons: Latencies higher than PTCL. BW a bit lower. 512K will give you 490K etc.

LDN pros: Nothing that others don't give. Straight up DSL connection. Latencies similar to Maxcom, BW better than Maxcom but worse than PTCL.
LDN cons: Poor poor poor tech support. You can identify the peak times as latencies at times skyrocket.


BTW, if you're in Lahore, try looking into MBL (Nayatel) as well. Personally, I won't recommend LDN to anyone, specially for people thinking about online gaming.

Isn't Wateen Cable connection available in your area? If you have phone line problem than PTCL DSL should be your only choice. Only PTCL will fix phone line for better connection speed. Any other company like LDN will not do anything about it and will ask you to get it fixed yourself.

LDN service has certainly improved in the past few months. Now I get better ping then I used to in online games, although other players who have Wateen on PTCL get even better ping :$.

LDN should be your choice only and only if for some reason PTCL DSL service is not available.

Actually every ISP in Lahore is available here, but wateen simply suck coz of its dwnld limits, my frnd got a bill of Rs.7000 for a 512k connection

Anyway, the problem with my line is at my terrace, where the line divides, i think should get LDN to fix it somehow, lets see.

I applied for Ptcl 1 month ago and my order has been in their waiting list since then, i even went to their exchange and no one seems to give a damn, so i went for LDN.

go for LDN, i have been using it since a long time, it has good customer support and i have never faced any problems while playing online..but there's one thing, im currently using the 2mbps connection but ive never had speeds that have maximised the connection, i get around 1.8mbps most of the times... 8/10

I wouldnt rate Maxcom 8/10 ... more like 6/10 ... speeds suck balls. Streaming on youtube ... sucks like hell ... pings ... suck more like hell ... download speeds ... even more suck like hell!

Dude, if you're still deciding, for your sake, DO NOT GET PTCL! The worst customer service and the new modems they're giving have a lot of problems. They need to be connected to your phone line so if there's even a little bit of stuttering in your lines, the internet is going to go slow, or suffer from bumps. Anyways, I've tried both PTCL and Wateen. DON'T GET EITHER OF THEM! Go with Linkdotnet. Trust me, they're FAR better. Better customer service and everyone I've asked says they've never had problems.

Thx for the info, but already found out everything u told me long ago, and i have been using LDN for 2 mnths now and it simply rocks (1)
