bro many devs in irc are now confirming that indeed it is hacked and running unsgned code, and more than 150 games have been tested all working 100 percent.

i just hope that nobody has given them money yet, coz they are charging your credit immediately and not the usual way of " we will charge your credit card only when the object ships"

and since apparently they are using the jig to run these so called backups, they cannot legally sell the USB dongles, Sony will destroy them within a day or two, so they should just release the files for free , lolol

Ok someone is IRC just posted that red dead redemption is not working coz it contains a file archive over the limit of 4gb. 7 gb in red dead's case

So the backups shud be 4 gigs or less to run on the dongle ?

They're working on the NTFS version as well. Once that comes through, there wouldn't be the 4GB cap.
But it doesn't require any HW or SW changes. You can just remove the dongle and play online for the legit games and stuff.

That would be absolutely brilliant. Even better than the X360 modding scene.

But then, Sony's probably going to come up with a couple of firmware updates in order to counter this. I just hope this won't result in Sony making it compulsory for PS3s to be connected to PSN for playing games. -_-

Doesn't matter. These guys would update the firmwares too. It's the first crack that matters. Once it starts, there's no stopping it.

Is there any info on whether this hack will work on consoles that have been updated with the Linux removal update? Or does this use an entirely different approach?
