Planning to buy 3DS, Need suggestions.

I'm interested in buying a 3DS. I've never owned a Nintendo system before (Well I had GBA for very brief time). There are many variations of 3DS in the market at the moment, so I'm really confused which one to buy. The only games I want to play is Pokemon X/Y and OR/AS.

Shall I buy new one or used. Please give me idea of price ranges as well.

And is 3DS hack in my case is worth it?

Suggestions please.

[MENTION=19942]bulletproofAli[/MENTION] your best bet since u only wanna play pokemon games (which are the best for 3ds ) is to go for a used 3dsXL because that would come easily in under 18k perhaps even under 15k if someone is selling it on marketplace (you can search) because getting the new 3dsxl won't be worth it coz its quite expensive atm and i don't think anybody would be selling it either in used etc.... plus pokemon games on the new 3ds aren't worth it except if u want to try xenoblades or the new monster hunter which have exclusive controls on the new 3ds....

The thing is I'm not buying 3DS for current pokemon games only, I'm planning to buy Sun and Moon as well. So how important are the new buttons to the games. Are they totally optional, if yes (Which makes sense, since Nintendo wont screw their early 3DS adopters).

So the used 3DS XL it is i guess.

i dont think the new sun and moon would be new 3ds exclusive like xenoblades etc.... those games which are exclusive i think can only be ran on the new 3ds and not the old 3dsxl

I have one more question. A guy is selling a patched 3DS XL (Gateway Card hack). He claims that you can play it online as well, Is that true? I'm planning to play the games online and will probably buy ( or 'download' if buy this one off course) day one.

You seems like an avid Nintendo fan can you give me few basic tips for buying a used 3DS XL things I should look for before buying a used 3DS XL.

well i have no experience with gateway etc on the 3ds, i did had one on the nds lite and with that i played offline since well nds lite was an offline kinda handheld.

heres the thing about playing online, its always a risk and no matter what the companies always know you are doing it, its only a matter of time until if they decide to ban your console or account... with nintendo i haven't heard such things only xbox and sony though ban consoles and accounts but theres always a first
