Pandemic spills the latest on Mercenaries 2

Tags: Electronic Arts, mercenaries, LucasArts, Pandemic Studios The folks at Eurogamer have a cup of coffee (or a can of Coke, whichever suits them better) with the developers at Pandemic to get the updates on what's going on with their next sand-box destruction title for the PS3 (and still no word on the Xbox 360).

First, Mercenaries 2: World in Flames gets a new publisher: Electronic Arts. By saving the game from being a self-released title, EA does look like a potential partner for the new installment to the Mercenaries series. Pandemic respects LucasArts help and success with the first title and believes that EA can do the same for Mercenaries 2.

Fans will be glad to know that the new title's engine was built from the ground up to take advantage of next-generation console technology. The engine was also revamped to broaden the game's scope, increasing the number of things you can grab, shoot, drive, fly and destroy.

The next-gen development has been "going well," as Pandemic puts it. They put a lot of effort to build a much more open-world, but they are "excited by all of the things we're able to let the player do" and "the thrills [the player] gets from all the next generation chaos and destruction." We'll be glad to do so.

Fans of the old Mercenaries might want to know that Pandemic scratched the "deck of 52," relying on building a newer story and mission progression for the new title. They don't have anything to announce on online multiplayer features.

Having looked back at the first game, Pandemic will be smoothing out the gameplay, but while they're at work with the huge world, they promise to at least make the game work for a variety of skill levels. The next game will be based in Venezuela.

Phil should be held responsible for this shitfest too, just like Sarah, but it's highly likely that these decisions are coming from Satya. And this isn't even the end of it. More closures are coming.

if we are moving towards more and more popular trash across platforms that make billions for companies, I'm happy with all the barriers and exclusivity because at least that brings some pressure to create good stuff.

"These changes are not a reflection of the creativity and skill of the talented individuals at these teams or the risks they took to try new things" ... seems to me that's exactly what it is

They could've sold the studios instead of closing them, but the nazi bastards just didn't want competition down the road.

So i just found out that f***ing s***bag Microsoft shut down Arkane Studio (makers of the brilliant Dishonored series) and Tango Gameworks (makers of the iconic The Evil Within series), among some other studios. I just want to say a giant F*** Y**! to Microsoft. THEY'VE F***ED UP BIG TIME this time.

Started Dead Island 2, and i find it pretty lame. The story is shit. The characters are either cringe or bland (all 6 of them), The gameplay isn't fun. Even the goddamn zombies don't behave like proper zombies. They're all fast & intelligent unlike how zombies are supposed to be like. Any fan of "zombie" genre cannot possibly like this shitfest of a game. Dying Light 2 was million times better than this shit.

tbh gaming industry as a whole is failing much like tech industry. They have buckled down too much to Corporate suites then relying on passionate and innovative people. A corporate only believes in financial growth and shareholders.
