XBX: 2160p // Pro: 1800p // PS4: 1080p // XBO: 1080p

X, Pro and XBO use CB rendering to reach their resolutions. PS4 runs natively at 1080p.
Pro has highest average frame rate in cut-scenes and game play among the consoles.

XBX drops into the lower 40s. I don't get why Capcom didn't provide an option to favor performance over IQ on all platforms.

As such, PC is the way to go here. Though, I'll get it on the PS4 due to the possibility of Bloody Palace featuring coop support, in which case I have people to play with on PSN.

If the game doesn't get dexed in a few days, I'll just redbox it over a weekend for the campaign on Pro.

The performance isn't good on any platform in that video.
If one factors in cutscene performance, yes, but otherwise the Pro often maintains the target 60fps or stays close to it. Drops into the lower 50s do occur when there's a lot going on on-screen, but that's certainly not a deal breaker imo. I've seen such drops in a lot of PS4/XBO games that target 60fps. It seems to perform in the same ballpark as Kingdom Hearts 3 at 1080p on the PS4 Pro.

This, in particular,...

Seems to me that under most combat circumstances X1X will likely provide a more consistent experience here.

And yet XB1 is where the game is most reviewed AND highest scored (aka most accessible :p). This certainly isn't the Bayonetta PS3 vs X360 situation we saw back in the day.

I saw Pro dipping to 48fps where X1X was 43fps. Are these really meaningful advantages in gameplay which should be locked to 60fps in the first place?

Well, you know, these scores generally aren't reflective of technical advantages that a specific version may offer :p

For a locked 60fps, PC is the way to go. If that isn't an option, the Pro version would be the better choice in terms of performance. Realistically, a locked 60fps is off the table for the current-gen consoles (including the mid-gen refresh) due to their weaker CPUs.

I think unless there are sustained drops and prolonged periods of mid 40's, the frame rate and resolution the Pro is offering is pretty damn good for it's power/price.

My judgement is that even a dips to 58fps will manifest as a judder/stutter and therefore neither version is up to the mark in the game where controller response should be prioritized over everything else. Since no console version lives up to that, and something tells me Capcom does want to compromise on visual effects, so at least in that aspect there is a console version out there that will do justice to your 4K TV investment [emoji14]

My initial statement was regarding general combat scenarios not the worst case boss fight dips. I won't be surprised if just like the demo there are instances where X1X will hold up well compared to Pro which is what I was alluding to before.

You're forgetting that majority audience is on the base versions, not mid-gen refreshes. In my book, Capcom hasn't done a good job prioritising performance here, as was the case with RE2.

I ought to leave this wonderful chart that VGTech has provided. It delves deeper into why the Pro version is the way to go based on frame time statistics. Frame rate only tells one part of the performance story.

Well the video does have two general combat scenarios with the Pro leading in terms of performance. For more of such scenarios, we'll have to wait for tech analyses from other sources.
