Hey guys, I recently got this problem and while searching on google, i found a way when the dvd drive is trying to read the Disc gently tapping the area of the DVD drive lets it complete the reading process and loads up the game. What i wanted to ask was how safe is this procedure.. will there be a unforseeable event if i keep on using this trick? i literally mean "gentle", by gently tapping.

and secondly whats the permanent solution?! is there anyone here who can help? I dont know how to open the xbox by the way! Thanks

ohooo...Well if you did know how to open the Xbox then the solution is pretty simple...

Tell me, does your Xbox 360 DVD drive make loud scratching noise while attempting to read the disc?

Also, see this thread ...it mainly explains how to perform an X-clamp replacement but the first half of it describes how to open your Xbox 360 in decent amount of detail...You can try your luck with it, its pretty simple....

Once you open up the box, you need to open up the DVD drive itself (which is easier than opening the console) and apply lubricant on the railing on which the lens moves....

No it doesnt make any loud noises while attempting to read .. just the normal routine loading sound. and if u dont kind me asking ... where in karachi do u live? aim in clifton .. i can come to u to get it done .. would be a load off my shoulder! Thanks

Iam getting the exact same problem on samsung drive . And it has especially got worse since i got my firmware upgraded which increases the drive speed. Now half of my games are showing the open tray error. Any help would be appreciated

There could be something wrong with your lens. Try gently cleaning the lens with a slightly wet ear cleaner (forgot whats it called). Works for me everytime. Btw I also have a Benq drive.

This Problem 2 Reason,
1-Your Drive Clean the Lens.
2-Your Drive firmware is Bad Flash.

i agree with Vyrus. If it was a case of bad flashing then it would have occured from the start.
