EA's Tim Fields on Wii Undercover At GameCyte

EA's Tim Fields on Wii Undercover At GameCyte

GameCyte got a chance to interview EA's Tim Fields, a producer on Need for Speed Undercover. They talked about the Wii version of the game, Wii controls, heroic driving, the new Logitech Wheel for Wii, the story, game modes and more.

GameCyte: You say “top of their game.” We’re curious – are there any online modes in NFS: Undercover on Wii?
Tim Fields: The game is focused on multiplayer, same-couch play. It’s clear to us that the Wii is a very social gaming platform — you sit around with your friends and play this — and that’s the experience that we really wanted to give folks this time around. We’ve got split-screen modes, with all your classic races and chases, highway battles and so forth, and then we’ve got split and quad-screen modes that will let players do some pretty cool stuff. Cops and Robbers, a mode called The Heist that we’re really excited about, and that we’ll be revealing more about and so on…

^ pro Street wasn't too high as well. But it depends on the ingame intense situation handling.

^ Yes , based on the in-game screenies , I can fairly say that they will be tad higher than ProStreet . NFS requirements have always been decent .

NFS UC: Rollcage Edition

PAX 2008 (Penny Arcade Expo) Hands-On Need for Speed Undercover, Rollcage Edition

From the depths of the M.C. Escher nightmare of Dead Space we slid into the sweet embrace of a high-octane car. Need for Speed: Undercover knew that it needed to impress people with something besides picture-pretty cars racing along at high speed through city streets, so it wrapped itself inside a glorious steel gaming cage. A gaming cage that looked like something they'd use to teach driver's ed out of in the future. Find out all about this must-have, but can't-buy gaming accessory after the break

This photo-realistic driving game looks sexy enough when you've got the sleek Maggie Q. featured in your cinematic cutscenes, but if you cram it inside a metal rollcage complete with 5.1 surround sound, the Microsoft driving wheel with the pedals, a custom shifter, and an uber-comfortable racing car seat, then you've created something we covet. Unfortunately, they're a tad too freaking bulky and heavy to slip unnoticed into our geekpacks. This is a bit like showing us Madden NFL 09 in the middle of a football field... of course it makes things look better.

While we'd probably enjoy playing everything from Grand Theft Auto IV to Boom Blox in one of these rigs, it's obviously meant for racing and it made us click with Need for Speed: Underground. While the damage doesn't seem realistic at all (you can rear end a slow moving station wagon at 150+ mph and keep going), the graphics tend to make you forget about that. Randy called this "Need for Speed: Most Wanted with a new paint job," during his hands-on, and he's right. However, it's one pretty damn good-looking paint job. Plus, when that paint job comes wrapped in a custom driving rig, we start coveting.

Personally i see only one game that should be truly deserving of GOTY title this year (if it delivers). And that's KCD:II

  • XPremiuM XPremiuM:
The gameplay is generic & outdated in that game. And it's 5 hour campaign is too short to enjoy.

About Hellblade 2, I just watched the story on a YT channel out of curiosity and I think it has the Hallmark of a GOTY this year. While many criticize the game and I also don't like this genre of game, I believe the story and visuals looks like a cenimatic masterpiece.
It may win the "best visuals" category, but that's about it. A GOTY contender needs to nail all aspects (Story, Gameplay, Visuals, etc)

Just downloaded Farm Simulator 2024. The game is available for free on Epic fo limited time. I always wondered how our food is harvested. This game endorsed by the UN will reveal the process of farming.

BTW, i started Ghost of Tsushima, and it got me hooked within the first couple of minutes. I already know It's gonna be a memorable experience. This is how you make a proper Samurai game. Not that SJW game Ubisoft is making.

That's still higher than it's total play length. A 5 hour campaign for a $50 game is downright scammy.

Consoles were my main platform ever since Atari 2500. But now I think it's not worth it as PC especially with DLSS deliver far smoother performance. AW2 on console didn't even had ray tracing and ran below 30fps. Similar issues plagues DD2 on consoled.
The cross gen era really made people think 60fps would be a new standard lol

Welp, done with Hellblade 2. Thoroughly disappointed. Such a nothing burger after the unique experience of the first game.

I have a PS5 but I am not satisfied with the experience. I am currently saving for a 4080 64 GB rig soon. Bit will wait for Pro if performance improves. This gen has been so bad I don't plan on buying consoles anymore for AAA gaming.

It is indeed the worst generation by far.

Both PS and Xbox have been a flop this gen as they can barely maintain 30 fps in a lot of AAA games th.

  • L LegacyGamerGuy:
As per WCCF Tech review, Xbox Series X doesn't even maintain a consistent FPS and sometimes drops into the mid-20fps range. That's unacceptable, tbh.

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.
