Here are some good and bad things of S8 (my opinion):
The Good:
The Bad:
The Verdict:
This is a really nice phone which has exceeded my expectation in many areas, if they can color calibrate the screen from factory and maybe offer stock google software than this might be the best phone around for a while. I used S6 Edge back sometime, gave it away, I hated it that much, I can not bare lag from a high end smartphone, but s8 is very refined. If you are a person that doesn't drop your phone frequently, than this might be the phone for you, I am pretty sure this thing can not take a major hit due to it's fragile nature.
The Good:
- Extremely nice build quality.
- Phone looks stunning, I have it in Amber Gold, it's called I guess.
- With phones getting big these days, this phone is very slim, can be used with one hand although reaching extreme top and bottom is not friendly.
- I get a very nice grip on this phone, but this is highly dependent on ones hand.
- Black color on screen is very deep, I guess the pixels turn off, the clock widget is beautiful af.
- They have improved icons a lot, they are pretty.
- Camera is very good.
- Charging is really quick and battery timings are very respectable keeping in view such a high resolution.
- The skin is very light and does have a better vibe over typical "touchWiz".
- It has some very nice features like pressure sensitive touch to wake the screen, works every time.
- This time the hear rate sensor gives very random results, even without moving finger
- Speakers are well, well above my expectations, it is not only louder but also has a small punch which is very impressive considering it is water resistant. It is louder and clearer than M9 and M8 in our house, and clearer too, I did NOT expect that.
- Earphones are very nice.
- Dual sim handling is exceptional, even a puppet can use it, that easy.
The Bad:
- I absolutely hate the edge concept, it is a gimmick to me I have turned it off completely.
- The problem does not end there, video around the edges look terrible to my eyes, text around the corner in web pages looks terrible.
- The phone is not case friendly.
- I see some typical scroll lag that I have seen in every galaxy smartphone since s6 I guess.
- Aspect ratio is pretty much useless (apart from aesthetics), playing the videos stretched distorts them.
- Speaker gets muffled easily, in landscape mode this thing irritates me as there are less ways of holding the phone due to edge to edge screen.
- Overall the screen is very nice, but the color accuracy and especially whites are not true whites, samsung should tune their screens from factory rather than giving it as an option.
- Position of sensors, heart rate and touch are very bad, it makes the lens dirty due to accidental touch.
