Buldozer WAS a shit CPU when it was launched because it just didnt perform the way it should..
But currently Priced under 200 dollars, FX 8350 is a good competetor to similarly priced products by INTEL. specially when you get a fully unlocked FX 8350
my very dear brother why do u guys compare the current prices of these old chips???? rule of thumb is to always compare, when performance is main concern, the launch prices of chips.

even today : Amazon.com: AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition: Computers & Accessories

&, : Amazon.com: AMD FD8350FRHKBOX FX-8350 FX-Series 8-Core Black Edition: Computers & Accessories

heck, even i5 4670 (non K version): Amazon.com: Intel Core i5-4670 3.4GHz 6MB Cache Quad-Core Desktop Processor BX80646I54670: Computers & Accessories

here is a small comparison for u. and this is for the unlocked Octa core version of ur 8350...
Intel Core i5 4670K vs AMD FX 8350

I realy dont know whether you understand the word Unlocked ??? It means it allows overclocking.
1 - Fx 8350 is cheaper.
2 - Motherboards for AMD are also relatively cheaper compared to INTEL.
3 - And Fx 8350 will overclock to insanily high levels which 4670 will not.. ( because it is locked ).
4 - I never said AMD was way faster than Intel.. You should try to concentrate on words now friend.. I said it offer's VALUE to some..
5 - Fx 9590 is like a collector's edition CPU. It is not meant to compete with any similarly priced cards. It is just what it is... Just like few Asus Mars cards which are known for their exclusivity..

And now that you touched the topic... Just a few comparisons of similarly priced products that offer VALUE to those on budget.

http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-3220-vs-AMD-A10-6800K
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-3220-vs-AMD-FX-6350
http://cpuboss.com/cpus/Intel-Core-i3-3220-vs-AMD-FX-4300

As evident, cheap processors from AMD are the main target here which provides good overclocking features as well.

OH MY GOD... bro, i posted the links, did u check dem? WHY would u overclock a chip to say, 5Ghz when u get so many by products like heat, cost, warranty void, bigger chances of breaking the chip or mobo or any other component?

the link i gave u was of cpuboss. and it was comparing 8350 unlocked version with i5 4670K the unlocked version. haswell boards are much more stable and cheap ones are also available. and the new goodies haswell brings are far superior than 8350 which is a 2012 chip and its cost now is $200 only $20 cheaper than a 2014 unlocked intel i5! what else do u need?

anyways i guess this discussion got way out off track.

my point still there, and its a reality.

amd SUCKS. i want it not suck but it does. intel is better. not a fanboy, if it was amd doing as good as intel i would have said the same about dem also.

i wish amd pulls off some miracle to get to the point where it can even stand infront of intel.

anyhoo, im enjoying my 4770K monster, would suggest every one to switch to intel.:D

Why did you even buy 4770k ?? You are not into overclocking. You are clearly not an enthusiast and you clearly have no idea what so ever you are talking. You bought an unlocked processor just because it was probably the most expensive item in list. Not everyone thinks that way you know..
And as i said, and would repeatedly say... I never mentioned AMD beating or being superior to Intel. But on a tight budget, they might appeal to some.
End of discussion with you i guess.

Where does it say R9 290 is HD 7950 with a different name?

For the record,
GTX 760 is GTX 670 with a different name, GTX 770 is GTX 680 with a different name as well and not just this, NVIDIA has been milking their customers with 3 different SKUs based on the same GK110, how about that?

You say $1000 AMD chip is beaten by Intel $400 chip, do you even know how much the price difference is between an i7-3930K and i7-3970X even though they both perform almost equal in gaming? Everything has it's purpose man, some applications benefit from more weak cores rather than less powerful cores. Check out Linus' recent builder guide, he also recommended an AMD quad-core X4 750K for "Just Gaming" build over an i3; go and figure why. AMD budget offerings are beast.

You're clearly trolling here.

Where does it say that R9 290 is an HD7950?

well if u think my comments about amd are baseless and ignorant you sir are either living under a rock or have zero knowledge of this fast changing world. lawl :D
and if u think the launch cycles of nvidia have anything to do with their incapacity to make something better, u should really reconsider before just commenting around on the inter webs :D
U havent refuted any single one of my comment about Poor Yields or the reason why GTX780 is 12 SMX instead of 15 SMX

well i can give u a hint, just cause u are a good PG friend, go check price of amd FX-9590. not the current price cause its slashed cause of holiday season, its day one launch price and compare its performance to any under $500 intel chip, emmm, say like 4770K may be?
i7 4770K also beats Intels own Sandy Bridge E series in Gaming and Application that are not heavily threaded
Yet i dont see u blaming i7 3970X or comparing its perforamce to under 500$ Intel Chips

anyhoo, really dont want to get into any argument with someone who does not have even the basics understood. better get ur self some knowledge about what i said. search for it. read it out.
(nothing personal btw)
Knowledge?

U have claimed R9 290 to be same as HD7950
U have claimed Nvidia can produce GPUs with 100% Yields right of the bat
U have claimed AMD is bad because their 1000$ CPU looses to 500$ Intel CPU but failed to mention that fact that Intel also has 1000$ CPU that can barely best their 500$ CPUs

Did you check Logan's own suggested latest budget build? That build is based on AMD APU.
And yes on high end Intel is better and no one is saying otherwise.
Compare processors at about $100 then tell me which is better.
AMD is better for Pakistan because more of our users are budget users, not people who can buy 4770k.

Also, greedy shopkeepers are everywhere.
Linus has an audience so he has to be at least somewhat truthful but in his mouse comparison video he mentioned, depending on what store you go to you may or may not be told that whatever mouse you ask about is good and they may not let you test before buying. When he says that he means smaller shops than his own NCIX.
Most Pakistani shops are of that type so obviously they are more greedy.
Also its not just greed it is taxes(official and otherwise) and market value. Anywhere in the world rarer products are more valuable and thus more expensive. AMD is rare here and imported by shopkeepers at their own expense so they can ask for more. If official AMD distributers came, it would not be rare and at least we would have a second option.
And Competition is ALWAYS good for consumers.

U have claimed AMD is bad because their 1000$ CPU looses to 500$ Intel CPU but failed to mention that fact that Intel also has 1000$ CPU that can barely best their 500$ CPUs

i have actually not claimed any one of these things u mentioned other than 290.

and that might have been typo cause i meant 7970.

i didnt say nvidia can produce GPUs with 100% yields right of the bat. yes there are issues with nvidia as well. and tbh, i personally blame nvidia more for where gpu industry is today stagnant and moving at snail speed.

but the bigger culprit is amd for not innovating and pushing out products competitive to the green team.

my claim was intel chips for "price to performance ratio" are superior than amd's. its my personal preference and a very common practice, when u have enough budget to get something like a $325 chip, why not just gather from somewhere or even wait to have like $350 to get even better performance.(its just an example!) 4770K better than 3970x in some gaming, i take it as a positive point for 4770K rather than a neg one.

and as far as nvidia gpu yield and gtx 780 smx count is concerned, i just like thousands of other people in world (including ur self, i guess) would have a very clear idea why nvidia did dat. the sole reason is lack of competition. when recipe works good for a company and it sees almost no competition, it would not change.

now u might ask why did they release gtx 780ti then, and why would they even release titan ultra or its other variants and u ur self would be knowing answer to the question. fermi had its issues, which got solved just after the release of gtx 580.
and u might remember time whengtx 465 could be converted to work as gtx 470 by just a firmware change.

i dont know if i m making myself clear to u or not, these companies try to keep a tight grip on the consumer products. they have the tech to release great products but they dont really do that. talk about gtx 780ti, i would not be surprised if nvidia releases yet ANOTHER variant of 780!

and i guess that would be enough to discuss as for now. cause i see people get ferocious and angry here quite sooner than they should. so i guess im done with this thread conversation.

i really appreciate OP's effort though. and thanks for ur interest as well :)
cheers :dance4:

ooooo... some one seems to be angry and mad at me and my 4770K purchase. i see some smoke, some ones burning....

well here are my answers to ur angry rant, i got 4770K cause i CAN!
im not an enthusiast and have no idea what ever im talkin, well, at least i stand by what i say and i have legit links to back what i say.
even if i get a cheaper processor, i would not only look towards just the perfomance. and amd chips in the lower end sides are hotter than almost all of intel chips. u get a $5-$10 cheaper chip and then u WILL have to buy a decent cooler. and that would again be burden on pocket.

and to ur third part:

You bought an unlocked processor just because it was probably the most expensive item in list

wow, u really are ignorant and uneducated bro. well, here. im giving u link to some of my overclocks i did to my chips. why dont u show ur haswell i7 4770K clocked to 4.6Ghz with only 1.23V? oh, i see u still stuck with sandybridge...
[/IMG]

when someone does not even have knowledge about how TIM works and does not acknowledge the performance of high end TIMs and compare them to Rs 200 cheapo pastes, he should get back to his cave.

a brotherly advise, never poke into things u dont know. and pls dont get mad during discussions. its not constructive and also bad for ur health. just chill and accept the ground realities. even if u dont, i dont give a single F to what ever u say or think.
Peace out...:groupwave:

"R9 290 is an HD7970"
This is an equally absurd claim since HD7970 and HD7950 are the same Tahiti GPU with HD7950 having 4 Compute Units disabled

i didnt say nvidia can produce GPUs with 100% yields right of the bat. yes there are issues with nvidia as well. and tbh, i personally blame nvidia more for where gpu industry is today stagnant and moving at snail speed.

but the bigger culprit is amd for not innovating and pushing out products competitive to the green team.
What are u talking about?
GTX 780 came down from 650$ to 500$ because of the competitive R9 290X at 550$

The R9 290 at 400$ furthers the competition in AMDs favor as far as "Price/Performance" goes

my claim was intel chips for "price to performance ratio" are superior than amd's. its my personal preference and a very common practice, when u have enough budget to get something like a $325 chip, why not just gather from somewhere or even wait to have like $350 to get even better performance.(its just an example!) 4770K better than 3970x in some gaming, i take it as a positive point for 4770K rather than a neg one.
Firstly i7 4770K is not a Price/Performance processor specially if Gaming is concerned
Its a high end unlocked processor to be paired with an overclock capable board beyind the needs of just "Gaming"

Secondly the discussion here is about Budget Processors or lack of it in Pakistan where AMD can fill the void for guys stuck on Dual Cores and not enough money to afford an i3 + GPU setup

and as far as nvidia gpu yield and gtx 780 smx count is concerned, i just like thousands of other people in world (including ur self, i guess) would have a very clear idea why nvidia did dat. the sole reason is lack of competition. when recipe works good for a company and it sees almost no competition, it would not change.
Lack of competition was the reason why GTX780 retailed for 650$
Its not the reason for its low SMX Count

now u might ask why did they release gtx 780ti then, and why would they even release titan ultra or its other variants and u ur self would be knowing answer to the question. fermi had its issues, which got solved just after the release of gtx 580.
and u might remember time whengtx 465 could be converted to work as gtx 470 by just a firmware change.
GK110 seen significant production that they were able to produce the full 15 SMX Core with decent yields and the card was released to compete with R9 290X

GTX465 was a Full GF110 GPU with 5 Cuda Clusters disabled again a result of poor yields and being sold as a lower priced unit
Sometimes the "Fault" with a cluster is negligible in a sense that it can be unlocked and used as we have seen with AMD GPUs and AMD X3 Procesosrs

The same cannot be done with GTX460 since its a different GPU Core named GF104

i dont know if i m making myself clear to u or not, these companies try to keep a tight grip on the consumer products. they have the tech to release great products but they dont really do that. talk about gtx 780ti, i would not be surprised if nvidia releases yet ANOTHER variant of 780!
They can only release higher clocked versions now as the GK110 Core is maxed out at 15 SMX

here is a small comparison for u. and this is for the unlocked Octa core version of ur 8350...
Intel Core i5 4670K vs AMD FX 8350
You want to know the launch prices of these chips?

  • AMD FX8350 - $195 US
  • Intel Core i5 4670K - $239 US

The FX-8350 was launched in November 2012, Haswell was launched in June 2013. Intel has the IPC lead but we are already looking at multi-core optimizations at AMD's end with games such as Battlefield 4 thanks to Mantle.

No you are wrong again.

I am a reviewer and i can confirm that the AMD Radeon R9 290 nor the Radeon R9 290X are based on the Tahiti die as the Radeon HD 7970 or the HD 7950.

Tahiti has been featured on the Radeon R9 280X at an impressive price of $299.

The Radeon R9 290X and Radeon R9 290 are using a totally different Hawaii GPU architecture. That's 2816 Stream processors on Hawaii compared to 2048 Stream processors on Tahiti.

Yields are one issue but the other reason NVIDIA delayed the GK110 for consumers is that the chip is an HPC part. NVIDIA wants to sell it to Server/Workstations first. Thousands of GK110 chips were reserved for the Titan supercomputer alone, that's the reason we didn't saw GK110 during the initial launch of Kepler in 2012.

When NVIDIA had enough chips under reserve, they launched it for the consumer scape.

"R9 290 is an HD7970"
This is an equally absurd claim since HD7970 and HD7950 are the same Tahiti GPU with HD7950 having 4 Compute Units disabled

why dont u elaborate and shed some light of ur wisdom dat why many of the people who actually got new R9 series cards with labelled AMD 7000 gpu in gpu-z?

What are u talking about?
GTX 780 came down from 650$ to 500$ because of the competitive R9 290X at 550$

The R9 290 at 400$ furthers the competition in AMDs favor as far as "Price/Performance" goes

how would u explain amd releasing 290 and aiming compete with mid tier cards when its the same gpu as older sibling? and why is its performance so lowered in ratio to 290X? is its also about YIELD u keep on mentioning?

Firstly i7 4770K is not a Price/Performance processor specially if Gaming is concerned
Its a high end unlocked processor to be paired with an overclock capable board beyind the needs of just "Gaming"

Secondly the discussion here is about Budget Processors or lack of it in Pakistan where AMD can fill the void for guys stuck on Dual Cores and not enough money to afford an i3 + GPU setup

i also pointed dat out in my comments. what i mentioned was dat instead of going to amd with their bizarre heat out put and ridiculous energy consumption, one should wait and save for until one can get to an intel chip. personally to me, power, heat out put and noise DOES matter a lot in my rig. and thats what everybody should notice. i see people here running mediocre fxs and i3s and i5s and some normal 500 series card but they have like 1000 watts 1010 watts psu which is just plain stupid. its just my opinion, anybody can disagree...

Lack of competition was the reason why GTX780 retailed for 650$
Its not the reason for its low SMX Count

why would u say dat when at dat time there were 7970s and 7950s even in gigahertz editions available? why didnt people all over the world prefer dat price to performance ratios? and hell 7990 got a price drop why not dat?

GK110 seen significant production that they were able to produce the full 15 SMX Core with decent yields and the card was released to compete with R9 290X

GTX465 was a Full GF110 GPU with 5 Cuda Clusters disabled again a result of poor yields and being sold as a lower priced unit
Sometimes the "Fault" with a cluster is negligible in a sense that it can be unlocked and used as we have seen with AMD GPUs and AMD X3 Procesosrs

The same cannot be done with GTX460 since its a different GPU Core named GF104

what does dat significant production mean? do other cores get non significant production? thats kinda odd statement to state. and the GK110 was released well before even 290x existed! even 780 was months older than 290x was supposed to be released. amd 9000 series were supposed to be released but they changed dat.

these are mere excuses told to the world for making them into believe dat things cant be done. when they are already working on Maxwell since 2010 and even announced Volta 2 gen into the future...
thats kinda companies could make anything they want. Full unlocked GK 110s were used in Nvidia Tesla K20s, K20Xs and K40s in 2010. dont u think, based on ur assumption, they worked enough to release a fully unlocked GK110 for GTX 780 knowing this was actually their Flagship geforce card? and also if we look at the trend their x80 series of card are usually released with fully unlocked core like GTX had a fully unlocked GK104??
look brother, its just a game of money these companies play. now u would say it was cause of lack of competition, then why didnt they just blew everybody away by releasing fully unlocked 110 for 780 and didnt even give a chance to AMD for their shot?!

They can only release higher clocked versions now as the GK110 Core is maxed out at 15 SMX
how is clock speed dependent on the SMX count? gtx 670 had not completely unlocked GK104 but still had gigahertz editions, no problem at all.

Your heart
if we just talk about msi products like gpu and motherboards they are more expensive then any other brands with same performance that of other brands then why its over priced then any other brand in pakistan
its mainly because of aesthetics and also because of just marginal performance gains. their gpus look sick and mobos are sex bombs... :D

and even some of their higher end models are sample picked and checked at their factory making them costlier to manufacture and hence the higher price for customers :D

i love the brand and first time i bought their gpu its build quality was better then other but performence was same so i faced a huge loss at the time of sale mxt day went to buy a mobo found msi and gigabyte of same specs but msi was way expensive then gigabyte so i have no chance to leave msi for gigabyte bcz i can afford more loss

1 - You mind your words else you are soon going to get a ban hammer. I have no interest or what so ever in your purchase or your money.. PERIOD.
2 - Good for you that you bought 4770k. It is amazingly fast and worth every penny. I never denied the fact that Intel is somewhat slower or inferior to AMD. Infact when i was given the choice, I myself bought Intel because i had the budget to do so. So did you..
3 - As i said AMD offerings are relatively cheaper, specially the APU lineup and Fx series. They do run hot, but stock coolers do an average job of cooling them. Compared to INtel counterparts for the same price some people ( those who dont have enough cash to buy an i3 + GPU) might buy an APU instead. What part of this do you not understand ??? I WONT BUY AMD processor because i want performance. But some people still do buy APU for a reason..
4 - If you had to buy a cheaper processor you would still opt for INTEL. Good, you should do that and there is no stopping you. It is your decision and be happy about it. But if i had limited cash i would surely go ahead with APU and i will be happy about it. Why are you trying to impose your opinion on to other's ???
5 - What you do or do not do with your processor is none of my concern. You yourself mentioned you are not in to overclocking ( highlighting the dangers of it) but bought an unlocked processor and then you overclocked it and posted a screenshot. Please,, i do not require any proof of your enthusiasm
6 - Please do not comment about thermal paste. I have personally used tooth paste on more than a couple of occasions for testing purposes and i know the difference. I have reviewed multiple items so i know what i am talking about.

It is best not to talk about things you do not know.. And please do not quote me again.
I wish you the very best for your processor.

Did anyone miss the highlighted statement?

(Btw, it's not the same 'rebranded GPU'. A commonality is the die, but the difference is the unified cores).

why dont u elaborate and shed some light of ur wisdom dat why many of the people who actually got new R9 series cards with labelled AMD 7000 gpu in gpu-z?
Provide credible sources to back up ur claim
Also provide reasonings for the following:

"R9 290 is an HD7970"

how would u explain amd releasing 290 and aiming compete with mid tier cards when its the same gpu as older sibling? and why is its performance so lowered in ratio to 290X? is its also about YIELD u keep on mentioning?
R9 290 has 4 Compute Units disabled giving it a total of 2560 SPs instead of 2816 found on R9 290X hence slightly slower performance

And why do u want explanation for its 400$ Price tag? This GPU has the highest Price/Performance ratio of any product in the market today

i also pointed dat out in my comments. what i mentioned was dat instead of going to amd with their bizarre heat out put and ridiculous energy consumption, one should wait and save for until one can get to an intel chip. personally to me, power, heat out put and noise DOES matter a lot in my rig. and thats what everybody should notice. i see people here running mediocre fxs and i3s and i5s and some normal 500 series card but they have like 1000 watts 1010 watts psu which is just plain stupid. its just my opinion, anybody can disagree...
Guys with 1000W PSUs are not the target of Entry Level AMD Processors we are discussing about

Waiting and saving is not a luxury afforded to everyone as some ppl have a threshold of the amount of money they can spend on a PC
Currently 12k Rs Core i3 is the minumum required processor for decent gaming and we need alternatives with AMD APU provide

why would u say dat when at dat time there were 7970s and 7950s even in gigahertz editions available? why didnt people all over the world prefer dat price to performance ratios? and hell 7990 got a price drop why not dat?
GTX780 is 30% Faster than HD7970 hence no competition for GTX780 and its 650$ Price Tag
Those concerned with price/performance bought HD7970 while those who wanted the fastest non-1000$ GPU opted for GTX780

As i said before competition would dictate the Price of GTX780 (650$ at Launch without competition and 500$ today with competition) not number of SMX

what does dat significant production mean? do other cores get non significant production? thats kinda odd statement to state. and the GK110 was released well before even 290x existed! even 780 was months older than 290x was supposed to be released. amd 9000 series were supposed to be released but they changed dat.
What other cores? GTX780 GTX Titan GTX780Ti and Nvidia Tesla GPUs are all based on GK110
As HMS has explained to u the large chunk of GK110 went towards their Tesla GPUs and GTX Titans and those GPUs that had manufacturing faults in 1 or more SMX were sold as GTX780 with 3 SMX Disabled

Fast forward to November 2013 they have enough GK110 with all 15 SMX functional that they can release GTX780Ti

these are mere excuses told to the world for making them into believe dat things cant be done. when they are already working on Maxwell since 2010 and even announced Volta 2 gen into the future...
thats kinda companies could make anything they want.
I have given my reasonings above

how is clock speed dependent on the SMX count? gtx 670 had not completely unlocked GK104 but still had gigahertz editions, no problem at all.
Read what i posted again
They can only release higher clocked versions now as the GK110 Core is maxed out at 15 SMX
Any further GTX780 series GPU will only have higher clock speeds as they cannot offer more than 15 SMX

Score 1 for game pass. I wouldn't pay full price for this at retail either.

Just downloaded my first legit digital PC game on GoG at a discount of $8: Two Point Hospital. The same team behind Theme Hospital Two Point Studios now part of Sega. And I am having more fun than most recent AAA games except of course BG3.

PC Gamer score of 58/100 for Hellblade 2??? Is it really worse than Gollum that was 64/100? Microsoft games can't even come close to high scores of Sony exclusives apparently.

About the Microsoft (and Sony) debate, I feel both have become too greedy and losing their minds over corporate greed. Personally, I will never buy any console next gen and switch to PC gaming where democracy reins.
