Hi guys,

I'm aiming to move from my trusted 760 to 970 but the RAM issue is bothering me a bit. I know I'm only running a 1080p monitor but I do mod Skyrim a bit.

Is it the right move for me? Or should I wait for the price drop on 980?

How will I sell the 760, its in perfect condition but I have never sold a thing before lol.

Thanks for your time and expert opinions.

Alhamdulilah i am owner of a 970 its all by the grace of Allah.
Performance on 1080p no words to describe...MA SHA ALLAH every Game running smooth on ULTRA
If in future you shift to 4K screen then don,t buy 970 wait and buy ATI 3 series GPU.
and if you happy with 1080p gaming then Close your eyes and buy it
(one thing put in your mind you spending 40K+ so buy warranty item don,t go for non warranty item)

970 is an amazing card. Coupled with my crappy remaining rig (i3 2100, 4 GB RAM), it runs games that require less than 8 GB RAM beautifully. Games that exceed the 8 GB RAM limit stutter heavily, but thats down to my crappy rig, rather than the GPU :) It runs Dying Light at around 45 FPS average with everything on max (except Textures and Draw Distance, which were kept on medium due to low processor and RAM in my rig). Most of the new games I threw at it ran above 60 FPS on average (never dipping below 60 FPS).

I'll stick with 1080p until 4k becomes affordable. I need 60 fps minimum on games so 4K is not that great for me. I was going to purchase Asus ROG monotor but dont realy like TN panels. Thanks for the help man. I only purchase warranty items ;)

more ram is only required when go above 1080p and enable max ultra textures 1440p or 4k ..1080p some games require 4gb but they are not that many

but now the more the ram the better

plus amd has done some thing wonderfull ..with its up coming drivers

now if you ahve 4gb and each has 4gb then in total that will make a monster 16gb of graphics vram , before it was not possible but now it will be .

the next gen amd cards saying will be default 6gb so expect 24gb of vram in quad setups .

i wonder if nvidia will follow on thsi

Dude I heard that it was Direct X 12 which is going to stack VRAM. But I think you are correct, I should wait till AMD shows its cards, they have taken a lot of time so maybe they will come up with something amazing. I can wait till Witcher 3 comes out after that I will need to get a new GPU lol

COD AW stutters heavily :( and sometimes Dragon Age Inquisition also stutters when moving from one area to another. Otherwise when not stuttering, COD AW gives 100+ FPS easily, and DAI gives around 45-60 FPS 90% of the times. I need to upgrade both the CPU and RAM, but time nahi mil raha :p

It must be the RAM. I haven't monitored but what do you think is causing the heavy stuttering?

The game uses approx 5 GB RAM on 1080p.

The reason for heavy stuttering must be low RAM, since when it is not stuttering, it gives my 100 FPS or so...

Dude I have an i5 3570k and 8 GB DDR3 1600 RAM. The game gives 60 fps on ultra/high mixed settings. CPU might be an issue not RAM mate. Also your HDD might be getting slow too. Just before my 2TB Seagate was burnt, games started giving low fps.

not ram issue brother .... COD series always come with such bugs
COD Ghost same issue and fixed by a patch
try lowering/disabling "supersampling"
