I just wanted to inform you all of a certain issue known as manga piracy;

Let me Begin with telling you that manga's are brought about by the effort of scanlators, groups, cleaners etc who work tirelessly to bring you Manga and Comics which you love to read ( yes, this is the manga section. ), they spend countless hours working hard every day to bring us fresh releases and chapters so that we may enjoy them, however their efforts are being undermined by us, we choose the easy way out and for our own convenience opt for reading from sites which ' PIRATE ' the manga's and earn profits in hundreds of thousands of dollars ( like Mangafox for example ) every day by stealing from the efforts and hard work of the scanlators.

Manga Piracy does exist just like video game piracy, but unfortunately Manga Scanlator groups are not as well-off as big shot companies like Sony and Microsoft that they can handle losing Thousands of dollars to these pirates, In-fact, Many scanlators opt out of their work simply because of this, If not for them ( the scanlators ), then maybe for ourselves can we stop participating in this act, as if scanlators leave, the production of Manga also stops/halts for us to view.

Let me bring forth an example of such piracy sites, we all use and know of the online reading site known as www.Mangafox.com as it is the most convenient of sites to read manga from, but Please visit here to know a little more about Mangafox; http://www.mangaupdates.com/showtopic.php?page=1&tid=28000; Scanlators efforts for our entertainment and yet random sites who illegally upload these mangas gain profits from the hard work of others, this has to stop or atleast, we should play our part in making it stop, The link also explains the two-faced nature of mangafox, very conviniently they have posted a note for us at the bottom of every chapter of every manga on their site which says;

" This image is hosted at mangafox.com, we take no credit for the creation or editing of this image. Please don't forget to support the mangaka in any way you can, Thank you for reading at mangafox.com, and we hope you enjoy the chapter ";

The whole note is full of hypocrisy which you can use your common sense to find out after reading the LINK i have provided above.

Also a very important thing is, this message is not easy to grasp, if we were asked to stop participating in the piracy of music or anything else it would be impossible, i know, BUT there is a substitute, a site known as http://www.Batoto.com exists which serves the same purpose as mangafox except that it TAKES THE PERMISSION of the scanlators and does not promote manga piracy ( i provided the link in confidence to my own research alone, i cannot claim responsibility of that http://www.Batoto.com provides any of the material found in it legally. )

Finally i hope we all understand, don't get me wrong, i myself may be wrong and confused in many things that i have said, but i recieved some information and am merely passing it as i believe it to be true.

P.S;
I coudn't think of a good Title.

While I get what you are saying, groups which translate aren't exactly innocent either since they get the original japanese scans for free. But I agree with supporting Batoto and am against Mangafox. Mangafox doesn't ask for permission to upload to their sites from any scanlating group. They have a bot of some kind which leeches all the new releases from various scanlating sites as soon as anything is up.
So for Shounen Jump releases i.e: Hitman Reborn, Bleach, Naruto, One Piece, Hajimme no Ippo, Claymore etc go to Mangastream.com and for everything else Batoto.com is the place to go.

well for start, Japanese companies should make copies of WSJ available soon to public outside Japan (rarely a case). If you ask someone in SE Asia he/she will tell you how late are the official releases. and piracyis worst ther in the sense they have locally translated copies in printed form!
coming back to manga piracy, make manga availabe to public and they will buy it. also if manga is released in US u wont find it on mangafox....
e.g. Dance in the vampire bund, sundome etc etc.

as far as scanlators are concerend, mangafox is gay. most scanlators have policy/note that their release may only be listed on mangafox or other site after 3 days of release....which doesnt happen, hence they don like mangafox for that and I can assure you cleaning a raw/scanned image can be a pain, a severe one.

I wish i had example to show u, I'll have to look it up but you can find online.

Also who remembers a site called Onemanga?

reading scanlated manga is somehow on one minor mindset; wrong, illegal. that's you who felt that way.

Yes some of us said that reason we read it cos manga issuer didn't translate it for those who can't read japs characters.

Well to tell you the truth, like it or not. it's because of these scanlators and translators, one manga would go boom

me myself collect original manga and series on bumpy n-type or some other anime related mag that you don't know

i usually will read one first then if it's ok i will buy that manga. and manga came in to forms. one in bumpy monthly issue. this applied to new story and those that not that popular enough to be printed alone in one specific issue.

I directly support creators, storytellers and mangaka by buying their product.

for me, mangafox is not the main problem. Problem now is readers, readers who read and buy is ok. but reader who read enjoy save and print it out. sell it off, is the bastard in this case.

btw i don't want to take long, if you love manga. go buy it. Usually license manga that had been scanlated was issued under tokyo pop. company that sells genuiene manga with translated issue.

monthly issue. more manga in one stack of mag

one of my fav. full metal series

First of all, I always download from the scanlators websites. I am a mod at some other forum, more precisely manga based forum. We used to have all those major scanlators as our members. Out of nowhere, we received a notice, telling us to forbid these scanlation groups. We did not have online reader. We just let the scanlators to post read/download links to their sites . The Admins and Techies even went to Japan and held a meeting with the law firm that sent us the notice. They tried to find a middle ground. One of the proposal was to introduce digital right sort of system, at economical cost. However, the it was a dead end.

What these authors are failing to understand, Shounen mags or other manga related material are not available in every part of the world. I tried many times but I never found them. I once saw few arbitrary volumes of Trigun but that is all. Without these scanlators groups, only a handful people would have any knowledge about their work in a country like us. If they could come to a middle ground and be less greedy, in long term both parties would benefit from it.

The future is already changing with Korean Comics aka Manhwa. The concept of webtoons/webcomics is far more popular than a year ago. I myself is tend to read more manhwa these days than manga. We launched a manhwa section and it is growing solidly.

A possible way of helping Mangaka's would be to display AD's all around the manga and perhaps between pages. eg: The Manga has 20 pages, begin with an ad displayed before the 1st page and perhaps one after the 18th page etc, This way all the income received can be sent to the Original Mangakas.
