I work there in Swaggable, TIC, CIE as a Software Engineer. The food is so-so in the cafes and the internet is crap. We had to get a Nayatel connection to offset its crappiness. PG students normally get Wateen for internet, don't know about other services being available.

Heavenly memories start:-

Both food and internet reminds me of my previous uni Comsats, at least both were great there. There I could download at speeds nearing 1MB/s on torrents in library (torrents were banned but not the protocol). The food choices were diverse, competition strong among the various dealers (~10 container shops) so each serving was plentiful and cheap. So many food choices, each vendor had a list which can be considered a list. Everything was priced <=110 except for pizza. Servings were big and plentiful and there were waiters taking orders and one doesn't have to fight to get the food. Rotees and Naan were prepared fresh.

Nightmare starts:-

Here food is served in small disposable plates, not even half filled, have to conserve it to eat two rotees out of it. Rotees are small, cold, made only once and shipped in cardboard boxes to the cafes. Same menu of 4-5 dishes everyday. "Chicken" haleem has one or two chicken chunks and costs 80, korma 90... Really its a nightmare for my pocket. Even the fast food, shawarma 90, roll paratha 130 (same amount of chicken, just paratha is something considered special). No waiters, one has to get in line in front of the cafe to get anything and there is a great chance that when your turn comes, the dish you lusted for, is gone. One vendor of each type per cafe so zero competition and monopolistic prices.

Transport within and outside campus is non-existent which is really horrific for anyone without own transport considering that the campus is spread over an area of 2x2km. Taxies are banned inside the campus due to "security reasons", when was the last time a taxi exploded! Today's terrorists bring their own cars and trucks.

One has to primarily ask for lifts to navigate the campus. One measly shuttle runs on the circular road which can't even climb the equally measly hill present on 1/4th of the track and only sets off when it gets filled with 5-8 people. 2 shuttles at gate 10 run from 8:00am to 9:30am in the morning which also avoid the hill and then nothing. From gate 10, the departments are 1-2km far, same for the other only open gate 1 (which doesn't even have shuttles).

My usual day starts taking a walk from G-11/1 to gate 10 and then getting on a shuttle or lift, if available but there is always a day in a week or two that I have to walk from that gate to the office ~2km. At night, rarely a colleague drops me on the nearby highway otherwise another march takes place from there to at least the highway. Taxi charge is 80 till the highway and 150 till the gate.

^ Campus has alot of potential, i feel it will take another good 10 year to get it fully developed at aleast, with new hostels, medical school, faculty housing, technology park etc things are going to be there soon so would be transportation.
