LESCO Bill

Those of you who labor through the day know that paying bills aint easy. Especially electricity bill in Summers.

Anyway, I was just looking at my bill and my total bill without taxes is ~Rs7000 with 1 AC running full time on this meter [amongst other stuff]... not bad, but then then there are the 'Taxes & Others' section. That total is ~Rs5000. Pushing the grand total to Rs 12000 on 1 meter.

Can someone explain me what 'FC-SUR' and all those other crap is? I tried asking helpline and my local Wapda office but they are clueless and asked me to contact head office instead

My FC-SUR is around 3000 alone.

fc-sur must mean fuel cost surcharge or something like that... they add something like that to increase the bill... it is maybe the fuel cost the distribute to users, which is used in power stations... it is listed under extra tax right? i am not sure, i heard something like it once and making a guess...

Yeah if it's Fuel charge then F em! Below is my complete run down of power usage.


This house has 3 meters due to size and how we wanted to distribute power usage. There are total 4 Air-Conditioners [3 Window and 1 Split] in the house out of which only 2 were used this month. 1 Window AC ran 24/7 while the other window AC was used occasionally. The Split AC was NOT used this month.

1 Meter is a main 3-phase meter which operates most of the house including servant quarters while the other 2 are 2-phase small meters. The smaller meters are specifically for ACs in two different rooms.

This bill I was discussing was for the main 3 phase meter. As I mentioned, it had 1 Window AC running 24/7. There are no UPS installed on this and most of the lighting is energy saver bulbs with a few exception of 60 watts incandescent chandelier bulbs. Additionally 2 fans were used 24/7. Also note, 1 modern front loader washing machine was occasionally used and electrical kitchen appliances are also on this meter [toaster, microwave, Chef, juicer, 2 refrigerators, deep freezer, water dispenser etc].

The smaller meter had 1 Window AC used occasionally but the meter was read wrong and they sent me Rs16000 bill against this meter [1000 units were added compared to the picture of the meter]. Heck even the older reading was higher than my current reading by a few units. I've filed a complaint at LESCO yesterday so that bill is now under dispute.

The third small meter has a computer, 3DTV, consoles and charging stuff running on it - so mostly gadgetry [The split AC is also on this but not used]. The bill came to Rs700. I haven't really inquired much on it but I feel that is high for modern electronics that use less power than predecessors.

Hmmm i heard they now just check How many splits ac's are in a house especially in DHA etc and send the bill according.. not actually checking units etc as ur one bill of 16000 as u said...
