at ur resolution u will get playable fps(30-40 fps, depending on game) with high to very high settings but for 1080p HD u will either need to decrease settings or get a better card. But that better card will be bottlenecked by the cpu; unless u overclock it to crazy high values

dont know about that specific psu, but 500w is more than enough for gtx 550ti

Even overclocking wouldn't completely eliminate the bottleneck. May be just a bit.

He'll get max frames with medium graphic settings in the game up till 45 FPS.

with this setup fps will hang around 40fps mark on high settings, arkham city, mwf3 and bf3 these are the ones that I have tried with 550 at 1440 x900 and I wasn't dissappointed at all

At your resolution it will run games perfectly fine, itll run easily on a 500watts cm,your processor wont fullt utilize the 550ti,better get a quad core cheap or revamp your setup.

What if i got a core i3 2100 (sandy bridge) processor and with the same gpu, will the cpu bottleneck this graphics card??

---------- Post added at 03:26 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:21 PM ----------

guys compare the Radeon 6790 vs the gtx 550ti which is better and which will has the highest price to performance ratio and which card will give the highest frames in the above mentioned games with the above mentioned setting and resolution????

6790>550ti in terms of frame rates, but nvidia has cuda & physx(depends on how much importance u give to these)

but for new, 6790 is around 3k more costly than 550ti. in used however, price of both is almost same.

& 1 more thing, NFS the run is limited to 30fps, so no matter which card u get, u cant go beyond 30fps

It will run without a hitch. Plus I wouldn't opt for a 6790 since with the 550Ti you get PhysX as well and MOST of the games out now are tailored for Nvidia GPUs.

Radeon HD 6790 review

What I've shown you is the same game (Metro 2033) but from two different but valid sources. GTX-550ti isn't a bad card, but 6790 is a bit more powerful which makes it take lead.

And here's your 3D Mark11 score to tell you how much raw power a card really has:
