Sorry I couldn't reply in time. I don't know much about the art of purchase, anyway though. It's good that you took a friend who knows his guitars.

Guitar looks awesome, by the way. Would you mind telling the price and where got it from? Also, I'd like to see close-up shots of the neck from the edge, pls
That's alright. I bought this for around 8k from Beatles Centre. It's a little more than I was expecting but I consider it an investment.

Not sure if this is what you mean but here are the shots:

After a few hours of testing and deliberation, decided to go home with this beaut. It isn't branded but it seemed to have the best tone and ease of use out of the ones we tried.

Time to completely screw up my fingers.
congrats on the purchase...can I ask why didnt u go with an electric though

also would HIGHLY recommend justin guitar for learning chords...its free nd probably one of the best teacher starting out..his method of anchor fingers and 1 min changes was really helpful to me

Hey thanks man. Concerning electrics, I had a couple of problems. One of them being cost since I don't have a lot to spend on a guitar + amp. And I live in an apartment so there are a couple of noise concerns. But mostly I just wanted something I can pick up anytime whenever the mood hits and not have to worry about setting up (this way I can play during power outs too) :p

But who knows, I might just get an electric down the line if the budget permits.

And yeah, Justin comes highly recommended so I was already following him. Starting introductory chords for now while doing John Petrucci's warm up exercises in between.

regarding your first problem...electric is much quite-r to learn....you can plug in your headphones, use a very low volume on amp or even learn without using anything, the guitar will ring enough for you so no electricity wont be problem..Also you can make it sound completely different (plug it into your pc and use amplitude)

I say this because learning an electric is much easier..well at least it was for me..So if I was you, I would keep an eye out for a used but good electric guitar

I see. I guess I'll consider getting one in the near future.

Out of curiosity, what kinda setup do you have?

So guys, I'm gonna go buy me an acoustic guitar tomorrow. Anything I need to know before buying? or stuff I need to check? I'll have someone with me who already plays but I wanted to aks here too.

I don't know if I'd recommend anything other than just checking to see what shape the guitar is in and how it sounds. Let your guy test it out and see what his take on it is.

If you have a specific preference in tone or anything it'd be a good idea to let him know. I had my friend play the same thing on two guitars that I was considering because they had different quality of sound in the lower bass range even though he initially didn't notice it himself.

Looks should be your last concern, focus primarily on sound and playability. Try to find something with a low action. (Lower string height)

Also, my friend recommend a Jazz III pick along with the standard one. It's a smaller slightly thicker pick usually used for electrics but he had me get it because according to him it'd be easier for me to use starting out because of the smaller height. I'm finding this to be somewhat true.

Great pics. That's just what I was talking about.

The action seems a bit high, though. But I've never seen a guitar with an action as low as mine, so my opinion on this is really a tad skewed on the lower side. :p

Anyway, seems like a great purchase. Have fun with it. And don't forget those chinese instructions cuz no strings will be playing for relaxation. :p

Good luck...nothing which @Benighted hasn't mentioned..

But do this : First go and ask for expensive guitars and ust sit down and play on them..... concentrate on how they sound and feel..Get a little used to the richer and fuller sound on lower notes and how the sound is pitching on higher notes, then go down to the cheaper ones..compare them side by side..let your hand float up and down on the neck and see how it feels..try to make sure its not too rounded or fat (wide circumference), the action is nor too high or too low, if the neck can be adjusted and how fine are the tuners.. properly polished and frets are inline and properly set..

I am pro electric just cause of the ease of learning and eventually you will need one if you are at all into at all rock, alternate, punk or metal..

Yeah, I'll be taking onw or two guys with me who know how to play and have been doing so for a few years, but I'm not entirely sure how well they'll be able to buy me one

You're not wrong. The action on this was a wee bit higher than the rest but I just liked the tone and decided to just roll with it for now. If it ends up hindering my progress, I might look into seeing if I can get it lowered.

And thanks. Progress is slow but I'm enjoying it so far. :)

I plug this baby > The Unboxing Zone[unboxing-]-pgs-first-fender-192160/ into this :Behringer UCG102 Audio Interface use headphones or speakers.for future reference, you can also read this thread http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f3/[nba]-beginners-electric-guitar-193645/and http://www.pakgamers.com/forums/f3/guitarists-thread-info-discussion-help-236731/
Sweet Squier, man. (y)

I might just look into the software emulation route now if I decide to go electric.

[NBA]Buying my first Electric Guitar

So as the title states, I'm planning to buy an electric guitar and it'll be the first ever guitar I get my hands on to. I wanna go for an electric guitar coz I'm into metal and stuff and not into slow songs. I have no idea what frets or anything is and what types of wire I should get.Heck, I'm not even sure if I'll play it passionately. I just wanna give it a try and I have no friends with guitars to give it a try. So what options do I have? What's the lowest I can go for just to check if I like playing guitars or not.

I've already gone through the threads already made for this but they didn't really seem to help me. And what should be the lowest amount I should have even if I'm a beginner. Like maybe I could get a cheap mini Marshall amp(Saw them online somewhere) and buy a better one later(If it's needed).

I'd appreciate any help from people already playing guitars. :) Oh, and, what's the best place to buy or check out guitars in Karachi? I'm not really sure about used guitars as I have no experience whatsoever. I won't be able to judge if it's good enough or not.

Used to play guitar long back....
There are many brands available for electric guitar. However, as for beginner you should get a used guitar or any brand. Brand specific does not matter at this point. since it will be or learning purpose.

A used good guitar should cost you around 8k to 15k somewhere (without the amp). I would suggest getting guitar only and using a computer software instead of the amp rite now. When you notice you are getting good at guitar and develop interest in it then you should consider buying an amp.

At this stage, i am assuming that you already know how to play a guitar ( u know the basic playing stuff).

If you are a complete noobie, then dont get an electric guitar rite now. Get an aquistic one for learning. You have to learn and train on aquistic guitar and then move to electric one.

It's not necessary to start with an acoustic guitar. In fact, electric guitars are easier and more forgiving.

Can't help you about which guitar to get and from where. I have no experience buying an electric guitar.

an electric guitar requires around 50000 investment
could be 40000 no less if your looking for good shit
the guitar might cost you 20k or even 15k but i'd recommend you get a good electric guitar around 20k,try bc rich its a good company or some other company
the next thing you need is a amp
here is the tricky part
1.You'r amp produces most of the effects and sounds o you need to invest in a good amp, shitty amp equals shitty guitar sounds. It doesnt matter if your guitar costs 1 million rupees if your amps shit the sounds shit
2.if your on a budget get a portable amplifier ( google nux pg2 and how it works on youtube you'll get an idea)
as for how to play it i bought a fender 2 years ago since then never practised anything due to a shitty amp but tbh its more easier then a acoustic

You reap what you sow. This is what happens when you take away choice from consumers. Even with 88% split going to developers, they can't recoup costs. Meanwhile, Helldivers 2 is a massive hit for Sony thanks in big part to Steam.
