i am doubting it was overclocked. cuz 2700+ is a optimal score for R9 290 and in between previous pages, you will also find sapphire 290 trix with almost same score. adding up it was at default clocks. Please review your overclocking stability and show us correct clocks.

Well my R9 290 has the reference design and it was fully overclocked

i guess at air cooling you GPU out of any further potential. may be you can hit 1200mhz with custom cooling. after all it is reference unit. what's load temp are you getting btw?

I think 82 Degrees Centigrade

But it gets really hot next time will note temps too
