I have been offered a job at a startup in Orlando, Florida, USA. I have been working with them since the past 5 months through 2 intermediaries. I have been lucky enough to sequentially switch to each of them, before this company, the main client, offered me. They are willing to give me $3,000/month for working at home or $6,250/month ($75,000 per annum), if I migrate. They will get me there on H1B and also take care of the tickets and insurances (I will not pay a cent for those, ever).

The question is, should I stay or should I accept the opportunity to go to the USA?

There are many many variables to consider, especially people's attitudes and costs of general living. I have seen estimates from $1600(web)-$2500(relatives) for a single person living in the US. Florida fortunately doesn't have income taxes so at least my salary will not be less. Sales taxes are also very low at 6%.

The company also prefers that I work there and they are very assuring that though there are few who will dislike you but most will not care.

Please help me decide!

You've got a great opportunity on your hands to go to Orlando and live there. I had say you should move and get out of this cesspool. $75,000 per annum is a decent salary and you'll have a decent amount of money saved every year since you're a single guy. I'd say you should move out there, make connections with locals in Florida and work there and experience a new culture. Don't let this opportunity slip.

Even if its $2500, yet you save around $3750 ($45000 per annum) which is still more than your income while living here in Pak. You can literally cut down the living cost by:
following one of those guides which teaches how one can live off under $200 eating all healthy.
choosing cheapest package for your car, internet, phone, etc
ditching the netflix (keep your entertainment expenses minimum)
etc etc
or there's always option for ramen if you wanna to be a saving Abuses will lead to ban :p

They will get me there on H1B and also take care of the tickets and insurances (I will not pay a cent for those, ever).
Sweeet. Live the American dream!

On a serious note, you should migrate - like right now. This is an amazing opportunity, don't let it go to waste. It's a big world, go pwn it.

What Striker said. Do a thorough analysis of your expenses.USA is expensive as far as i've heard from most people. If you think your income is enough and you can prosper, no doubt you should go abroad

Just keep this in mind.
$3000 here will make you live like a king due to our small economic scale.

When you move, ya'll just gonna see everything big, economy wise. :p

This right here sir, is my biggest worry... I can clearly see that with 3K per month I can do what most salaried people only dream of. I can have the best apartment, with servants and still money to spare. There I may only manage to find the apartment to be of similar level in my budget...

Take it as your gateway to USA, where more/better opportunities will present themselves to you. Try to get the American passport eventually.

Don't look at the 3K/Month right now. Look at the opportunities. But you also have to consider your family, your parents, your duty to them, etc etc.

Now look at the future.
in the US, you will gain experience and have options for more better job if you decide to move on.
and on the other hand whenever you come back, the Pakistani companies will be desperate to hire you because of your abroad experience.
Future in the making.

As shyber said, weigh these options with your family included.

Just do a CBA of both situations. Even if you're living in Orlando, you cited expenses as being $2500 per month. Add in another $500 for entertainment etc, that leaves you with $3250 per month. Put $1000 each month into a 401K, send $1000 home and you still have a decent salary left.

From what I know you are possibly a coder or have something to do with programming. All I know is starting for that kind of work is 90k$ or something like that. Check glassdoor for comparative startups or what others are getting for the position they have offered you. I can see they are possibly investing a lot. You can negotiate get them to up a bit, once stable you can switch over in the future.

And above all making this move, think one thing through marriage and children. Children most importantly, what sort of mindset do you have and how you wish to raise your children. For example I and my wife qualify more than enough for the immigration to Canada & Aus, but we have not opted for it because of what our experience has been talking to a lot of people many who have returned even with a green card.

Will you care to share those experiences?

Well, I agree with you, it is a challenge. But there's no lack of amazing Muslim communities. I don't know about Canada, but some areas of Melbourne makes you feel like you're in Dubai, given the number of Muslims around. Plus there are Islamic schools opening up here, right and left, and around them these communities usually develop. Of course I've just spent an year hear and I'm gonna give it 4-5 more years to finally decide whether I can manage the religious and cultural safeguard for my children. I mean there's a darul uloom here where people are doing courses for Aalim - a modern Aussie madarsa lol. I didn't know something like that could exist. SO I've met families who do absolute hijab and stuff and I've met families who've given into the Aussie western lifestyle. I guess it just depends on your, there's no artificial societal pressure which'd create hypocrites. But I'm still forming my opinion, I think I need a couple of more years to figure out.

From career point of view, I think it's always handy to have options in your hand. I see fpga123 with an opportunity of a lifetime. He can take the leap, give it a 4-5 year test and if nothing then at least he'll have the exposure, professional maturity and set of options that he probably might not get remaining here for the next 5 years. Once you have a foreign passport, there is no limit to where you can go and what you can explore.

Seriously i would suggest you to go to foreign country like USA to get green card after that you can move back to pakistan or dubai etc , the benefit of foreign nationality is much more than holding the green passport of Pakistan .

My brother use to apply for dubai jobs from pakistan and use to get no answer , some answers with less money offered , when he got his UK nationality those arabs are willing to pay far more money than he can earn even in UK .
