[h=1]Xbox One will be a part of Fortnite Battle Royale’s cross-platform plans, Microsoft says[/h]

[h=2]But will it and PlayStation 4 play together ...?[/h]

Multi-platform play is on the move for Fortnitebut it remains to be seen how all these platforms may fit together. This morning The Verge reported that Microsoft is working with Epic Games to get Xbox One included in Fortnite Battle Royale’s new cross-play and cross-progression plans.
But there’s a big difference between the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 cooperating with a PC version and even mobile, as was announced yesterday, and cooperating with each other in the same game. The Verge was careful to note that Microsoft did not confirm that the two consoles would be working together on Fortnite Battle Royale. And as was reported yesterday, Fortnite Battle Royale’s integration with a forthcoming mobile game means that mobile users can join into console and PC games, but not vice versa.
Still, it bears watching because we know that cross-console play is possible within this game if all parties agree to it. (And, theoretically at least, that means it’d be the same for any other game available on both consoles.) Back in September, someone at Epic flipped the wrong switch and Fortnite players were briefly able to matchmake across PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Epic Games confirmed the goof after shutting it off.
But PlayStation has remained closed off to working with the Xbox One’s ecosystem even if it cooperates with PC play on other games like Rocket League. Over the summer, Rocket League’s makers said cross-console play (between Xbox One and PS4) was possible but PlayStation had not granted permission for that. Confronted about the comment, a Sony executive said PlayStation was holding out for reasons of online safety or player experience interacting with another platform — an excuse that Xbox boss Phil Spencer didn’t think much of.
So while yesterday’s news release from Epic notably omitted Xbox One from Fortnite’s new mobile plans, Microsoft now says it’s in. With Game Developers Conference 2018 coming in a week, it’s possible we could hear more about this soon, though that show doesn’t feature as many new product announcements as expos like E3 or Gamescom.
However, if these two consoles get together on one game, it will raise the question of why they can’t get together on all games developed for both consoles — which involves publishing partners as much as rival hardware makers.

Update: Epic Games’ Nick Chester confirmed that Xbox One vs. PS4 cross-play still won’t happen. Sure, both consoles will be able to play against PC, Mac, and mobile players, but they’re still not talking to each other.

[h=1]Fortnite update adds Supply Llamas, remote bombs and Xbox One cross-play[/h]

[h=2]What’s new in version 3.3 for Fortnite: Battle Royale and Save the World[/h]

Fortnite’s latest patch rolled out today (a little later than expected) and added new features to the Battle Royale and Save the World components of the game.
Epic Games released the 3.3 update for Fortnite this morning, bringing with it the previously announced remote explosive weapon to Battle Royale. You’ll find those rare C4 bombs in Fortnite: Battle Royale’s Supply Llamas, treasure chests, floor loot or supply drops. And yes, as previously announced, Supply Llamas — which look like purple piñatas — are now scattered throughout Battle Royale’s map.
Battle Royale players have one less weapon in their arsenals as of today: Epic has removed smoke grenades. Epic said in a recent developer update that they’re simply not being used enough by players, so the developer is putting them “in the vault” while it reevaluates the grenade.
Today’s update also adds Xbox One cross-platform play. Epic announced earlier this week that “cross-play, cross-progression, and cross-purchase, between Xbox One, PC, Mac, iOS and (in the next few months) Android” was coming to Fortnite. Well, here it is. Players on Xbox One will be able to opt out of cross-platform play when they log into the game.
Fortnite version 3.3 also preps the game for a new, limited-time mode: Blitz.
“Blitz has much shorter storm times resulting in faster & more intense matches,” Epic said in today’s patch notes. Maximum match length is 15 minutes in Blitz, and matches will start with the storm circle already closing in over the island. That shorter match length also means some appropriate tweaks to loot drops:
Increased chances of treasure chests spawning from 50-70% to 80-90%.
Increased chances of ammo boxes spawning from 65-80% to 85-95%.
Floor Loot spawns nearly 100% of the time.
Supply Drop spawn interval lessened from 180s (+/- 30s) to 80s (+/- 20s).
Supply Drop descent time shortened from 60s to 30s.
Launchpad spawn likelihood greatly increased.
Blitz will be enabled in Fortnite: Battle Royale on Monday, March 19.
On the Save the World side of Fortnite, Epic has added the Luck of the Storm questline, which introduces some St. Patrick’s Day-themed cosmetic rewards. Here’s what’s involved in the latest quest of Fortnite’s “Spring it On!” event:
Battle lucky Husks, uncover treacherous treasures, track mythical spokescreatures, and brave springtime storm shenanigans!
Quest rewards include an Epic Leprechaun Survivor + your choice of one of three Legendary St. Patrick’s themed Heroes:
Luck Demolisher Wildcat
Highland Warrior Wildcat
Battle Hound Jonesy

Check out the full patch notes for Fortnite v3.3 on the game’s website.

[h=1]Fortnite on iOS runs like a dream[/h]
[h=2]I can’t believe I’m playing Fortnite on my phone[/h]

Fortnite Battle Royale is now live on iOS. Invites for the iPhone version of Fortnite have hit the inboxes of some players who signed up to test the game. I just received mine. How does the mobile version stack up against the console and PC version? You may be surprised to find out that it runs great.
Yes, a game that until today demanded the power of consoles and PCs now plays without glaring hiccups on a smartphone. As I tap the on-screen icon that allows me to fly out of Fortnite’s party bus, it is hard to believe this game is running on my iPhone 8 Plus — and running smoothly at that.
The controls for Fortnite on mobile devices. Epic GamesEpic Games has done a fantastic job getting the game to perform well on iOS, and managed to keep it relatively small, with a 2 GB download. Despite having certain controls like duck, jump and item selection taking up precious screen real estate, I found the experience to be incredibly intuitive. You slide your left thumb in any given direction to move, and you can either slide it further or double-tap to start running. Turning is handled by swiping your right thumb in either direction. Complicated movements, like quickly spinning around or spotting a target, feel accurate. It isn’t nearly as clunky as I had feared it might be.

Damn a free to play game left PUBG in the dust i would say....Nice

[h=1]Fortnite Battle Royale’s getting built-in replay tools[/h]
[h=2]Relive, replay and share your best Battle Royale moments[/h]

Epic Games is making it easier to create and share your best Fortnite Battle Royalemoments, thanks to a new in-game feature that will let players record and replay gameplay footage. The new tools are aimed both at content creators who want in-game, cinematic camera features and players who want to revisit recorded matches for a better look at how the action went down.
Those replay tools are coming to Fortnite players “soon,” Epic said. Unreal Engine developers will get access to those features this summer, as part of Unreal Engine’s version 4.20 release.
During Epic’s State of Unreal presentation at GDC this week, the developer unveiledFortnite’s new live record and replay feature with some help from YouTuber Alastair Aiken, aka Ali-A. Epic and Ali-A showed off those tools in action, illustrating how players will be able to edit footage and control in-game cameras via a streamlined, gamepad-compatible interface.

Fortnite’s replay mode will let players toggle things like UI elements for player health and names. Camera customization includes options for exposure, aperture, focal length, auto focus and focus distance.
While the new tools promise “new possibilities for content creators,” Epic said, many players looking to improve their gameplay skills in Fortnite Battle Royale will likely want to spend some time with replays. Players will be able to “jump back straight into a game” after a match and “see what went wrong on the way to that victory royale,” Epic said.
Epic built a replay theater mode for its soon-to-sunset MOBA, Paragon, and it looks like a lot of the tech built for that game is serving the Fortnite team — another example ofParagon work not going to waste. Fortnite’s chief competitor, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, introduced a similar replay system in December.
It’s not clear when those tools will come to the mobile version of Fortnite, as the developer only confirmed console and PC support. But Epic Games founder and CEO Tim Sweeney spent a good deal of his State of Unreal opening remarks talking about how iOS and Android mobile games were quickly catching up to AAA console and PC games, so it seems likely that all versions of Fortnite will eventually get those replay tools.

Find the best sensitivity and drop into Pleasant or Tilted every-time. You'll learn to kill and build in time. It's all about muscle memory and becoming aware about which weapons are the best.
Also don't hide! Hunt people down and kill.

[h=1]Fortnite Battle Royale has a new starter pack with an exclusive skin[/h]
[h=2]600 V-Bucks and one of the game’s best skins make this a steal[/h]

It’s never easy to know exactly which cosmetic item to get first in a free-to-play game. But Epic is making the choice easy for new players with a brand new starter pack for Fortnite Battle Royale.
The starter pack, which was released Tuesday, March 27, sells for $4.99 on the in-game store and includes a cosmetic backpack, as well as 600 of the game’s free-to-play currency called V-Bucks. This is a slightly better price than the normal 1,000 V-Bucks for $9.99, making this a pretty good deal even if there weren’t any bonuses attached.
While the V-Bucks and the backpack are nice, the real draw of this pack is its exclusive Rogue Agent player skin that makes the pack just as likely to appeal to the game’s most dedicated players as it is to new Fortnite players. This is one of the best skins Epic has ever released and at just under five dollars, it’s also one of the cheapest.
It’s unclear if this starter pack is available for a limited time only, or if it will stick around indefinitely. Either way, the pack is available for purchase right now in Fortnite Battle Royale’s in-game store.

What game mode do you play? Solo?

I'd suggest playing a Squad game, even if you play with randoms, there's a chance you'll get decent-ish teammates who will help you out during combat.

Once you're sort of satisfied with your performance in squad matches and you start getting kills on your own, then you can start playing Solo and you'll get better at it.

I was playing with squads initially, but I just realised that it only made the game last a little longer because as soon as some opponent saw me, they’d kill me with like one shot from where I couldn’t see them. Then I started playing solo and in a couple of rare situations where the opponent has just landed and doesnt have any gear, I was able to kill them before almost immediately getting shot by someone else. Oh well, I guess I’ll have to play more. Might as well start playing with keyboard and mouse rather than the ds4.

[h=1]Fortnite’s new guided missile launcher looks fun[/h]

[h=2]Remote rocket kills coming very, very soon[/h]

Fortnite Battle Royale players are about to get a new weapon that looks like it could lead to a lot of fun moments (and some controller-throwing deaths): the guided missile launcher.
Epic teased the new weapon today, which is listed in the game as “coming soon.” The rocket launcher will obviously give players a huge advantage in taking out enemies from afar, but they’ll likely be pretty vulnerable while hunting down their target. The new missile launcher joins the recently added remote bomb as a tool that Fortnite players who prefer to kill from afar will appreciate.
Based on today’s video teaser, players who are expert at piloting a missile will be able to pull of some impressive kills.
Expect Fortnite’s new guided missile launcher to hit the game alongside the version 3.4 update, which is expected to go live in the early hours of Thursday, March 29, at 4 a.m. ET. Developer Epic Games said in a tweet that there will be “extended downtime for this update.”

[h=1]Now Fortnite is telling kids to stop playing in class[/h]
[h=2]Mr. Hillman wants you to cut it out[/h]

It’s really cool and all that Fortnite Battle Royale is now on iOS, but for teachers, it’s a nightmare. There may not be much for teachers to do to get their students from playing during class, beyond collecting and banning iPhones from their classrooms — but at least Epic Games is doing its part to help, even a tiny bit, as seen in Battle Royale’s latest update.
A loading screen for the mobile version features this text right below that colorful llama: “Mr. Hillman says stop playing in class.” Who’s Mr. Hillman? He’s a teacher, Reddit user and Fortnite fan, who took to the game’s forum this week to ask the developer for help.
“First, I love your game,” Hillman wrote on the Battle Royale forum. (The post has since been deleted, as users warned him against attaching his actual name to his Reddit account.) “My friends from college and I play pretty much every night. One problem, since mobile came out my students won’t stop playing in class. Idk if it’s possible, but I told them I’d write you and they didn’t believe me. Could you add this to the loading screen for a couple days to mess with them? ‘Mr. Hillman says stop playing in class.’”
Well, Epic Games was paying attention — the studio is super active in the Fortnite Reddit community — and now the game says exactly that when you load it up.

Whether or not that’s actually going to be effective in getting kids to stop secretly playing under their desks ... all I can say is that I wish Mr. Hillman luck.

[h=1]Fortnite’s weird comet has players thinking changes are on the way[/h]

[h=2]Are the Tilted Towers about to get nuked?[/h]

Fortnite Battle Royale looks like it is due for some kind of cosmic event. At first this sounded like April Fool’s content, or maybe incremental side lore. But a comet in the sky over Tilted Towers has been confirmed by multiple eyewitnesses and there are numerous fan theories flying about might go down.
The most common is that Tilted Towers, which is plentiful with weapons and gear, is about to get nuked by a meteor because Epic Games thinks it unbalances the game. Fortniteplayer ChlorophyteFTW articulated this in a forum post yesterday.
Firstly, most of us hate it, it removes the flow of the game, it is the location in the centre, so the storm will mostly be near it, which means tilted towers gets loads of people, nowadays nobody lands to Greasy grove, lucky landing, haunted hills, and the original wailing woods and lonely lodge; tilted towers is why. And, epic games hate it as well.
For the record, we reached out to two Epic representatives yesterday and heard zippity-do in reply.
From there, people think this may be a way to close out the current season of Fortnite Battle Royale and introduce some space-themed content. Data-miners have gone throughFortnite for clues and Epic apparently has no intention of correcting or shutting down their speculation.
This, for example, is the comet asset currently blazing overhead (thanks to Redditor IronRectangle) Players also confirm bizarre controller rumblings in the game as the phenomenon appears in the sky.
Fortnite Battle Royale is on its third “season,” which began in February. That started after season two ran from mid-December to mid-February. Many think this comet is presaging an end to the current season, especially given its space theme, and may presage some new game mode where the game takes place on an extraterrestrial map or aliens land in the game.
Others have read into Season Three’s unlockable cosmetics and predicted that the images of dinosaur skulls and mushroom clouds in the stickers means Fortnite Battle Royale is due for an extinction-level event like spring break in Mexico about 66 million years ago.
Fortnite’s Twitter account called the rumbling patterns a bug, but someone applied them to Morse code and developed the message SOS D 5 418. The SOS part is easy to understand and the 418 is assumed to be April 2018. D 5 may reference the portion of the map where Tilted Towers is located.
As far as what is actually confirmed to be going on right now, there’s some pastel-themed gear to celebrate Easter, so go grab that while you can.

[h=1]Fortnite’s new Port-a-Fort is a base-building grenade[/h]

Fortnite Battle Royale’s building game is about to change, thanks to a new item: the Port-a-Fort.
Epic Games revealed the new item, which is “coming soon” to Fortnite, that will let players build defensive structures in the blink of an eye. It’s essentially a grenade that gives players the high ground and tactical advantage, according to its official description: “New portable fort sprouts a quick defensive position upon impact.”
A quick trailer for the Port-a-Fort shows how it can be used in practice. A player pinned down by a duo uses the Port-a-Fort to get up and over on her opponents, and then rain down grenades on them.
Epic hasn’t said when the Port-a-Fort is coming to Fortnite, but the developer typically rolls out new updates every Thursday, and there’s typically a short turnaround between a teaser for something and its addition to the game.
Last week, when Epic added vending machines to the game, it said it would start dropping new content without the need for an update. “This new cadence allows us to iron out more complex bugs, while continuing to provide fun content every week,” the company said.
Fortnite is available for iOS, Mac, PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One.

[h=1]Fortnite patch v3.5 adds Port-a-Fort, cyberpunk skins and replays[/h]

[h=2]Also, the return of the 50 vs. 50 battle royale[/h]

Fortnite’s newest update — patch v3.5 — was released today by developer Epic Games, and its main feature is a portable fort that brings a brand new way of building to Battle Royale. The patch also adds replays to Battle Royale, and new skins and questlines for Save the World.
The most heavily teased of this patch's updates has been the Port-a-Fort, a new type of equipment that allows players to create an entire fort with just a simple throw. As soon as the Port-a-Fort hits the ground, it instantly pops up a three-story-tall building wherever it's thrown. While some more seasoned players might see this as just another structure, it should provide newer players with a glimpse of what it’s like to build as fast as some of the best players in the world.
Battle Royale’s other big addition this patch is the brand new Replay system, which will allow players to watch their previous matches from all kinds of different angles and perspectives. The Replay System will even let players change the camera settings in order to help make their personal highlight reels a little more cinematic.
Also coming is a chat wheel that should let even the most non-verbal players help out their squad — even if the voice chat in the game is full of nice people. Patch v3.5 will also see the return of Battle Royale’s 50 v 50 game mode. This time around the mode is branded as 50 v 50 v2, and will include a faster gathering time and more weapon spawns than the last time the mode was active.

On the Save the World side of things, this patch mostly focuses on reworking previous system and modes. Among the reworks are melee weapons and how they interact with structures, as well as the Anomaly mission type.
The Survive the Storm game mode will also return in this patch and include a whole host of new rewards. As for questlines, patch v3.5 is adding Into the Storm: Opening Act which will include a new map and tie into the new neon skin line that's coming to Save the Worldas well.

[h=1]Fortnite players to get freebies as Epic apologizes for outage (update)[/h]

[h=2]Epic is sorry, and ready with the Fortnite freebies[/h]

Update 3 (4:47 p.m. ET): Epic will be doling out some rewards as an apology for the server outage, the developer announced. Here is the full list of freebies:

 • Battle Royale players will be able to pick up a free Back Bling gift from the in-game store.
 • Save the World players can get a Troll Stash Llama for free.
But that’s not all!
“Next week, we will be granting a pack of Battle Stars to our Battle Royale players and Seasonal Gold to the Save the World players,” Epic stated in the post. “This will require brief additional downtime, so we will be including it as a part of our planned update next week.”
The company also said that a full post-mortem with more details about what went wrong will be released next week.
Update 2 (4 p.m. ET): Epic Games’ status page says that all systems are now fully operational. The games’ online servers are now back up.
Login and game service issues have been resolved and we’ve returned to a healthy state,” Epic Games wrote.
Update (1:43 p.m. ET): It looks like the servers should be fixed soon, according to Epic Games, although the developer isn’t being more specific than that.
“Services should begin to recover over the next couple of hours,” Epic Games’ status page currently states. “Due to issues with our account system, players on PS4 will be unable to login for an additional period of time. We’re sorry for the extended downtime. We’ll update you in an hour.”
The original story about the server downtime is below.
Original story: The servers for Fortnite are currently offline, and there’s no estimate for when they’ll be back up.
“Login is currently blocked across all Epic endpoints, including games, websites, and the Epic Games Launcher,” Epic Games said last night. “This is due to a database failure which we are working to resolve as quickly as possible. In a measure towards resolution, matchmaking will be blocked for a short period. Thank you for your patience!”
There was then a degradation of matchmaking to handle account service issues, and Epic later stated that the problems were getting better.
“We’ll be undergoing emergency downtime to deploy major upgrades to our database systems,” the company later announced. The database upgrade process is still ongoing at the time of this writing, and the game “remains in downtime,” as of Epic Games’ most recent status update.
We’ve reached out to Epic Games for any clarity on what exactly happened and when we can expect the game to return.
For now, the game is down for everyone, not just you, and there’s no clear timeline for when the servers will come back.
