Final Fantasy XIV has not been cancelled for Xbox 360, but it is on pause, producer Hiromichi Tanaka told VG247 at Gamescom.
Final Fantasy XIV is slated to release September 30 for PC and in March 2011 for PS3, and previous indications had Xbox 360 development completely out of the picture.
Tanaka said the cancellation rumors are completely false.
“We’re still talking with Microsoft at the moment so there is no update as to when we’ll start again,” he said. The only roadblock lies in Xbox LIVE restrictions, which were also the issue when development was first halted earlier this year.
What do you think this means for the future of MMOs on Xbox LIVE? Do you Xboxers out there want to see Final Fantasy XIV on your console? Tell us in the comments!
