Rooney is definitely taking up the role he took in one of the previous seasons early on (which didn't work out), as a second striker, only this time he is successful till now.
Rooney has played great in the past few games as an attacking wide midfielder. And as an icing on the cake, RVP gets in amazing positions that it has become easy for Rooney to just lift the ball from the top of the defense (he did that against Braga I think, and also quite a few times in the PL at which RVP scored with his first touch). Hernandez showed that he has good form and I think that if Fergie plays him instead of Welbeck, he can finish the chances, stretch the defense (giving Roo even more space), and make sensible decisions. Even the holdup play of Hernandez seemed to have improved tremendously against Braga, I hope thats the case.
So its all good in the striking department, considering United are scoring 2-3 goals in every game.
Defense is the concern right now. Rio is too damn slow. Vidic is still out. Jones and Smalling will take 2-3 weeks to return. If Rafael goes out, we have no proper Right Back right now. Evra is half-assing in every game. Buttner is inexperienced but still decent.
Kagawa has gotten injured and is out for 4 weeks at least (no problemo here since Fletcher, Anderson, Cleverley, Carrick, Scholes, Rooney are fit).
I seriously think that United has a great chance of atleast getting one point at SB on Sunday... Hope I am right.
