How much of the thread did you read? As far as I can tell @Shyber brought up these points as part of a discussion taking place, and I wouldn't call them off-topic really.

What shyber brought up and what it got turned into are two different things..leeway to some extent is understandable, but when the thread reaches "behold the glory of 4K Gaming on my PC", then I suppose its time to reel it in.

Threads are now automatically made (under my name or PG-bot name) when articles are created in wordpress..this is why even though the author is EB the thread post appears under my name .

my first post was if pc gamer can build a heavy machine he can own a console for exclusives i have ps4 and i love the exclusives

When did anyone say you should stick to either PC or console? Infact the thread was quite the opposite, PC gamers had to buy consoles to play exclusives. The article never once insisted to buy consoles and stick to it

If the PS3 userbase was 70mil and not even 35 mil bought The Last Of Us, how can you claim PC gamers are "missing out" when a significant portion of the platform holders themselves dont care about it?

Don't care about, don't know about, aren't old enough for it, don't play horror, etc, yes, agreed. Let's say 20% of the whole user-base buys an exclusive title. Adores it. It's worth adoring, critical acclaim, blah blah.
That, in no way, implies that the 100% gamers of other platforms aren't interested in it. They very well are. They have adored similar titles and would play the exclusive title in a heart beat simply if it was available on PC. So yes, I do stand by my argument that those people DO "miss out" on it. And they deserve to be ridiculed if the ONLY reason they hate an otherwise good game is its exclusivity. You know, the sour grapes thing.

So yes, the numbers represent the general lack of interest. Enough for the game to be profitable? Maybe, but thats another story.

Dude, if we look at numbers only then that pits subway surfers or farmville over titles that you and I hold as legends There is another story.

That is probably the most valid summary, anyone sensible enough would do that.

But the direction I want to take the discussion in, in a civilized way, was a hypothetical scenario where if we can only get to choose one then which one should it be. The sacrifice of exclusive titles to maximize experience with multiplats, or to sacrifice the maximum experience for the sake of exclusives?

I would love people to answer this honestly, and share their favorites desirable titles which they can't play because of the platform they don't own.

In my case, between my laptop (for dev work) and S7, iPad and Smart Android TV, I got my platforms for all things PC related sans gaming. So it is my choice at this moment to build a desktop PC exclusively for gaming or not. I'm able to postpone that decision because I chose to sacrifice the maximum gaming experience for the sake of exclusives like Uncharted, Destiny, Final Fantasy, etc. I do feel like I'm missing out on Forza Horizon 3 (it's another thing to take my meager Camry on the Great Ocean Road and drive at 80KMPH fearing a $600 fine than drive a Huracan at 300KMPH on the beach under that road). Plus I want to experience Quantum Break no matter how badly it was received. Gears and Halo, nah not my cup of tea. But I know people who buy Xbox buy it for these titles.

Also, I'd probably get a PC when Star Citizen rolls in. If it's not running on the next Playstation by then lol. Anyways, my next purchase most likely will be a Switch but I'm gonna wait till the E3 and try it myself before I get it.

Nate in disbelief how its developers could be so creatively bankrupt. The game has its visuals going for it, but not enough for me to go back to it after playing the first 10 chapters. Even Rise of the Tomb Raider held my interest much longer than that.

Hmmm I'd disagree with the notion that all multiplatform games are best played on PC. Single-player only games? PC is definitely the way to go. But someone posted a 4K screenshot of Dark Souls II, so I just thought I'd mention that I'd never touch that game (or its successor) on PC. The PvP is hacker heaven. It's quite unfortunate, because PvP is great at 60fps.

And then there's Overwatch, aimbots and whatnot. Blizzard tries its best to overcome it, but the cheaters adapt. It's a cat and mouse game that I'm not interested in being a part of. Paying a subscription fee for online gaming is not the greatest thing ever, but it's great that one doesn't have to deal with such nonsense.

There's also the matter of user base. A game like Tekken 7 is unlikely to have enough active players for my liking on PC, so I'd most certainly go with the PS4 version.

It is very simple.
PC gamers cry when console gamers don't care or appreciate the 'ULTRA' setting for the multiplat game. (Worshipped by PC gamers)They are instead content with whatever setting they get on their gaming machine and enjoy the game for its gameplay, story and characters.
PC gamers also cry when some games are not made available on their ULTRA machines, so they hate and mention the un-mentionables getting ripped among other things based on their silly little assumptions!
